Bioware or Blizzard?
I used to think blizzard blew Bioware way, but taking 10 years to make games sort of made my view point shift to Bioware.
Who is the superior game developer?

Bioware seem to be steadily climbing the ladder to the top,in saying that blizzard have held the torch for a long time.

BioWare is going uphill, and Blizzard is going down (very quickly, I might add).

I will answer that when there is an eventual release of Diablo III

I'm obviously biased, but I spent a year and a half on WoW, and I'm eagerly anticipating losing a lot of time to Diablo III.

it really don't matter right now as soon(or late) as D3 comes out everyone will jump on their band wagon guaranteed. have you guys seen the trailers for it ? I think it will be definitely worth the wait . And am relieved to note they are not going the pay 2 play route. Very smart on their part because if they would have i think they would have allot of deserters , I for one. For me at least it would of be the #1 game i have waited forever never to play .
i refuse to pay 2 play its only hurting the industry in so many ways. and will continue to do so. This is my first Bioware game but have to be honest was not impressed in the least the condition it was released in . And how long its taking them to fix the things still. but keep in mind guys that EA is involved now and their track record and acquired companies is not pretty . They need to stop buying them all up. I thank then for the ones that are going under because they finance the finishing of games we might have had a chance to see. But other then that they are trying to become #1 just by owning every one . In my eyes #1 is something you earn not buy. I never become a fanboi i don't care how many great games you have made you still need to prove yourself with every game.
edit: but don't take me wrong the game for me reached epic status on allot of different levels. and have logged in over 300 hours so far . And will continue to do so . Its just the first impression thing is hard to get past sometimes

I was allways a fan of Warcraft... however from the hardcore fans - that means I think WoW blows. And well... I allways played BioWare games - since Shatered Steel. BioWare all the way.

it's far too early to be able to compare Old Republic mmo to WoW and Diablo 2 is the most recent Blizz game similar enough to BioWare's for a comparison and that's rather dated...

Never liked Diablo series myself but i always loved the warcraft universe! Til WoW came that is. Now there won't be a warcraft 4 or it will have crappy races in it like "werewolves"... Next you'll be seeing vampires that glitter!

At real time strategy games, I think Blizzard could be unbeaten (the only one that was capable of making great RTS was Westwood, that, God forgive me, ended up... uhm... where?). In RPGs. Well, they do a nice story (talking just about the Diablos here), some nice soundtrack and gameplay. But as much as I liked them, they were mostly addictive, not fascinating. I still love them.
So in RPGs, I say BioWare is superior. And not because I am on the BIOWARE social site. Link me a Blizzard forum and I will repeat this.

Am I the only one not that impressed with the D3 videos? It looks like the same old Diablo hack 'n slash but with more environmental damage.

Bioware, no question about it.
Although had some good old classics, because of the popularity of WoW they've gotten greedy and now they're more concerned about making money than what makes a good game. That's not exclusive to WoW either, look at Starcraft 2, why didn't they just wait until all campaigns were finished and then release it. Because they can earn more if they charge full $100(AU, I don't know what that is in US or Canada) for each campaign and because it's Blizzard they can get away with it. The'yre dead to me now(maybe D3 can restore my faith in Blizzard) but at the moment they're no better than Microsoft IMO.
BioWare on the other hand have released enjoyable story-driven RPGs that have kept me addicted again and again. They also listen to their fans and improve their games. Ever since NWN1 I have loved the BW games and it's definetly my favorit Dev.

Blizzard is a very succesful company for enslaving human beings by offering them a chance to prove themselves in a pseudo fantasy world, I've been playing WoW since it's launched until 2 years ago, when they ripped off the lore and wrote new ends for more people to sign up, more catalystic events just to pump up the revenues of themselves and they did a tremendeous job at it.
They only destroyed favourite characters one by one and created a mindless generation of teenagers with no RPG background or any edge at language, and not looking at events in a way that most veteran RPG players do. They wouldn't like anything sophisticated then their game, REAL roleplaying would be too much for them. Linear gameplay, only based on items and succesion through how much you devote yourself to the game is the corrupted purpose of the game itself. I loathe Blizzard for exploiting their world too much like this. I think it's just sad.
Bioware is nothing like this, they deliver far better worlds with incredible detail so many times, everytime it's a new adventure waiting to be played over and over again, just not 15 hours a day for 6 years like WoW.
I hope Bioware takes some measures about this when it comes to Old Republic, I don't want to see Yoda or some other epic character being toyed by 15 year old kids drooling for colorful items.
*sigh* Maybe they will.
and at Non-RPG genre, Valve is the best company in the world.

Bioware going uphill? I would have to dissagree there, the best thing Bioware ever did was Baldurs Gate 2 and every game they have released since has steadily gone downhill.
I have yet to play Dragon Age of ME2 but while still a good game Mass Effect has been the worst game they have released IMO.
I think it is quite hard to say that Blizzard is going downhill as they havent really released since WoW and its expansions, and while you think they are going downhill the numbers seem to proove you wrong. I would say 11.5 million people currently paying roughly $15 a month to play their game is hardly going downhill, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 both look like they will be great games plus Blizzard are also working on a new MMO based on an entirely new IP, I would hardly say they are going downhill.
While Bioware are still a good developer and Mass Effect is still a good game I do have to say that since the release of Baldurs Gate 2 the quality of their games has gone downhill, Mass Effect is probably the worst game so far.
Hopefully they can get back on top with their new games and the yet to be released SW:TOR.

This is how I see the world:
Three Game Developers that rule all: Valve, Bioware, Nintendo (though I admit Wii Music was the worst game ever. in history. not exaggerating.) and then everyone else is leagues below them.
And Blizzard has made some great RTS's but their recent business decisions a la WoW and the the splitting up of Starcraft make me believe fully that Activision corrupted them and they are simply not the same company any longer.

I think the best thing that Blizzard do in their games like Diablo is that, they randomize all the battles except the main bosses. This makes the game tremendously replayable, as your first game always feels different to your last.

Bioware by far in my opinion. While I love old games like Warcraft and Starcraft (Never played Diablo, only seen others play it), the overall quality is nothing compared to the games that Bioware make. My love for Warcraft and Starcraft is alot about nostalgia. I've not played a single Bioware game that I haven't loved from the moment I started playing it.
I've also had great times with World of Warcraft, but that was before the expansions came and ruined the experience for me. It used to be such a great game, there just isn't any challenge or fun left to experience.
