We hate magic which is why we are going to injest this magical red lyrium we don't know much about other than the fact that it is very dangerous, and made the knight commander of kirkwall crazy, and turn into a statue.

If thats what you got from that quest then I think you ought to replay it. The templars get to try new forms of lyrium all the time and since its a military organisation you don't question small things such as that. The thing is that noone knew that red lyrium was dangerous and they trusted their corrupted commanders and that they wanted what was best for them. The red templars killed the second in rank from the lord seeker because he wouldn't play along if I remeber correctly. Its the dead guy you find in the unlockable door near where you meet envy.

Correct, the Knight-Vigilant was killed by the knight captain who you get to put on trial most likely because it was certain he wouldn't go along with what is happening and would see envy for what he truly was which would have foiled Corypheus's plans, even with that they still had to kill a lot Templars who wouldn't along in the mage siding ending.

Well, there are few ways to combat the evils of magic. Red lyrium is the most cost effective means of doing so. I'm surprised they are so conservative with using it.

If anything, they had plenty of sense.

Also, you know, the whole lyrium is like a drug addiction thing. I was thinking it was like having regular heroin and super heroin. Heroin addict is going to want to try that super heroin.

It makes them more able to fight the evils of mages at a moderate cost to themselves.

If anything, that makes it more tragically heroic.

They weren't insane before taking it, so they must have logically decided on it, choosing an idea clearer and more good to them.

Therefore it is tragic. Stopping blood magery is the heroic part. They're really no different than grey wardens. They embody sacrifce by their loss of humanity, doing what they have to. This doesn't mean they have to make intelligent decisions.

Given how the order was coruppted and everyone in it is basically a drug addict, it has nothing to do with hate they are addicted to and most likely didn't notice the differences for it right awayy. Even if you don't side templars, there is a charger war table mission that shows some still resisted despite you not siding with them.

And its more the chant can be retarded when viewed certian wa.y, But no one ever said any relegion is smart, its more about conviction the brains in many cases.

The only Templar in Kirkwall who used Red Lyrium was Meredith, and she never actually ingested it but just used it in her sword.

If taking blighted anything is part of the strategy when fighting something other than darkspawn then you kinda screwed up. Sometimes the end doesn't justify the means + the mage side suggests that the templars are winning anyways (or atleast thats what the idiot Fiona gives as a reason to join Tevinter.)

off topic but I find it odd that red lyrium is literally everywhere now and I have yet to see a single vein of blue lyrium

They still agreed with it as it appealed to duty.

IT doesn't have to be a reasonable choice, just a logical one.

Ah, I didn't know this. I was just thinking of during the events of DA2 though, not after. Still, thanks for sharing. :)

Considering the timeline, wouldn't that have happened while the templars were under Cullen's command?

Just because you're winning doesn't mean you should back off. It's likely that they felt that they could end the threat that much sooner with the risk of red lyrium.

You know in he end, if people wanted there lives and to stay in the roder, doubt they where going to say no boss I'm good without the lyrium...I feel weak and depressed but I'm good boss.

Withdraw for something that powerful doesn't work like that, instead the lord seeker was just telling his templars he wants them to the try the "new" stuff. Most likely without telling them what it was.

Has for it being  blighted, no one knew it was till Varric's girl came along and said it was, and that is long after that info being useful.

The Templars more got duped, then being retarded in the end, happens when someone like envy takes control of a tightly knit and relegious order, could point out rl expales also but that would be against rules.

Just realized made envy and the seekers sound like drug dealers

you don't understand the concept of pyrrhic victories. In a war with a side that uses red lyrium, no one wins.
