It is weird he is so close with femshep and they are so much more involved in each others lives than other crew. They have more trust and closeness. But he cramps up when femshep wants to go further and is chill with Tali when she wants to go further. It shows he prefers Tali more so. It is clear that Tali prefers manshep more so because she jumps his bones and is willing to die to have sex with him. She is very possessive over him. Maybe if Tali told manshep she is not attracted to humans and acted really awkward, never took off her mask, or jumped on top of him, and dive down his throat, but awkward headbutt him and touch his shoulder, then flirt with Garrus till last game and if not romance goes happily and smoothly and less awkward with him you would understand. Or replace Tali with Jack and Garrus with Zaeed.

The flirting is him asking her about Fleet and Flotilla and how is her immunity in ME2 and offering her chocolates and teasing her about her drone and just other flirty teasing throughout ME3. And it happens when he is in romance. Contrast with how he so awkward with femshep his most closest ally. Also this happens if Garrus first gets recruited in ME2 but not ME1 so he just has the hots for Tali without knowing her at all....hint hint ....she looks like a human too with long hair on her head. She look nothing like Turian lady at all.

Anyways~I am just really conflicted about which romance is truly the best for my hetero backoff Liara femshep. I chose Thane but it is too saddening and I will not make it my OTP with ...snoooze snoooorrrr Kaidan snoooorrrr..... I headcannon Zaeed! Or~

Alien romances for ME4 I like Quarian, Drell, or new species.

I dunno.  I never really liked the Thane romance, but then again...  I'm a guy.   So...   But I understand it gets women all woozy on their feet.   I've even heard of one guy having to recite, "By Amin Kira, lord of (whatever)" at his wedding, as part of his vows or something.

:o

EDIT :  His future wife insisted.

This is... I want to say I don't believe you but unfortunately I do. My friends and family think I'm a super geek about ME just because I post on forums. I will have to explain just how far it can go.

His future wife insisted.

That's hilarious..

Thane was badass. He deserved better. Or his fans did, rather.

No romance with aliens would be the best option. Bioware shouldn't feel obligated to satisfy the awkward sexual fantasies of xenophiles and furries.

I liked the Thane romance too, and I thought he went out like a boss. Him being an unavoidable death was daring. Why is Bioware not allowed to take risks like that without receiving fans ire? Nearly everything in the series has a perfect solution to it, so I liked how ME2 Arrival and all the way through ME3 there were unavoidable tragedies. Maybe it's because Kai Leng killed him? Even so a terminally ill Drell stopped him from reaching his target so it was a nice failure on Kai Leng. Plus stabbing Kai Leng for Thane at the end was glorious.

As for me I can never choose the Thane romance after the first time because it just feels wrong to me. His first wife changed his entire outlook on the universe and made him a better person. Him falling in love again, especially from a few conversations, just doesn't feel right. If I was in a similar situation where someone changed my whole world and then they tragically died I would never ever go after someone else personally.

I just did a Garrus romance run and I got absolutely none of the vibes with the Garrus romance, and how people can come to that conclusion in ME3 is beyond me. ME2 all the romances are awkward as hell I agree (why does Jack go from being a crazy psychopath deep rooted in her "me or them" attitude to deciding she's lonely from a couple conversations), but every romance scene from pre-Suicide Mission till Shepard saying goodbye to Garrus at the beam run is pure heartfelt gold. Garrus isn't fumbling for a compliment in that scene. He's fumbling because literally everything Garrus has tried to do in his life has blown up in his face and left him physically and emotionally scarred. He even says that he's nervous because of those reasons. How do you come to that conclusion?

Also his time-spending scene in ME3, again how the F can people get those vibes? They literally flirt up until Garrus embraces her asking if she's ready to be a one-Turian woman. Garrus flirting with Tali is hardly proof of insincerity because a) high stress missions requires ways to release stress, and Garrus is known to be wonderful at keeping conversations going b )you can flirt with anyone at any time despite being in a romance until you speak to your love interest and have to confess. If none of those things can convince you, then do a quiet Citadel party and enjoy the wonderful dialogue between Zaeed and Garrus as they rig your apartment to protect you. The code to disarm the defense systems is "I heart Garrus" for crying out loud lol.

Are we all playing the same game here?

I'm a little confused - do you mind explaining what vibes you're refering to? The vibe that Shepard and Garrus don't love each other?? Or something else?

I only ask because you mentioned the 'fumbling for a compliment' line, which I wrote in my post. That didn't have anything to do with any vibes I'd gotten. Just that I personally felt awkward with the romance in ME2, and not so much in ME3.

Here's hoping for a female Turian love interest in Mass Effect 4.  I imagine it will be like copulating with one of those aliens from District 9.

Half of his response is about me. What I said about the shooting date. Garrus says he does not know what to say to femshep after she says she love him. My opinion was he does not love her at that time and only realises it too late at beam run. This disappointed me since they are the closest of all the team and been together the longest and he takes sooooo long to love her. Anyways~

This thread kind makes me sad because I know alien romances will be better and human men on the team be made really dull by comparison. I will end up doing alien romances to get woozy in my knees again. Maybe we will get a really renegade human romance in ME4. I do not want another Turian saying and doing awkward things during romance and kind of insulting on accident. No more terminal Drell with obsession about his former wife or girlfriend too.

Well, it's not really pandering, but it's the next best thing.   Kind'a like the Liara LI for guys.  A hot blue sexy woman with her steaming hot sexual undertones that make you feel in control?  And who's now in power as the Shadow Broker?

OMG yes.   Sign me up for that ****.  Twice on Sundays.

Frankly, I found Liara's ME1 romance to be more than a bit disturbing. It seemed too much like taking advantage of a starstruck, naive college undergrad, from Shep's POV.

I didn't see the appeal at all until ME3. By then she's grown into herself and is friends with Shepard, so it's less awkward.

I'm sorry but your statement is rather....unrelated to what I said, so to speak.

"But alien romances are just...nope" what i mean is the writers made the other species similar to ours to make them interesting in some way and you don't have that curiosity, "blue skinned bi-curious space lesbians". Don't you  like romances with other species because of their appearances?

And the asari are mono-gender.

Strange, I always had the feeling that Liara, Tali and Garrus were the most loved romances out of all of them.

Thinking about it... the only human romance that comes close to those (for me at least) is Jack's, all the others weren't exactly my cup of tea.

If our human companions had a little more compelling romances in the future that would be cool, but so far the Alien ones have been way more interesting and therefor I'm more looking forward to our new Alien LIs for now. The human LIs (especially the male ones!) have really been lacking in the past. I'd rather romance an alien with an interesting character and well handled romance than someone like Jacob, no matter which one ist physically more attractive.

Truthfully the only time I romanced Liara was by accident. In ME1 she felt too young, even younger than Tali in some ways. In ME2 it felt like an extreme reaction to the Shepard's death.

Ashley's romance was good more or less but it still felt a but like "oh I am doing my subordinate but its ok because I am a spectre". And then in ME2 and the start of ME3 it soured.

Miranda and Tali were the only romances that felt more or less worth pursuing, and I still feel that both of them were seriously under-developed especially Miranda's.

I don't like romances with other species, because most of all romance story must be believable for me. The other species in ME are not similar to ours, at least not physically. Asari are the one obvious exception, despite blue skin and "hairs" they look exactly like human females. But the idea that other races like turians, salarians or ... Krogans ... may be biologically compatible with humans is rather ridiculous.

And as you said, aliens are interesting in some way. I just don't get how can they be interesting in "romantic way". Platonic relationship yes, but romantic relationships involve physical connections, which works between beings of the same species. It's just how things are designed by Mother Nature.

But of course it is my personal perspective. People like different things, I get it. I just hope that there will be human love interests in ME 4, even if the game takes place in another galaxy.

I think there will be, probably a male and female human squadmate, same as in ME, especially since they want it to be accessible to new players. I imagine many new players might be apprehensive about romancing an alien, especially on their first run.  :P

If the non-squadmate crew are romanceable again, I think the pilot would be an interesting choice. I mean, Joker was pretty involved and developed, as much as the squad were. I imagine the new pilot would have the same level of importance. Plus the pilot would have input and comments on the ground mission, which people like Sam and Steve didn't.

This remind me of Thane and femshep and Kolyat. It is too sad! Keprals is like lung cancer too.

I don't think it's wrong that Thane died. It's how he died. The animation/choreography is kind of weak. And it's how he behaves at the hospital before that. It's lifeless and brief.

And it's just because things were rushed. They had a better story planned before, where it was tied to Kasumi's misson about the indoctrinated Hanar and Kahje. They were gonna get a mission like Grunt/Jack/Miranda/etc..

Quite sad.  I play video games to have fun and stomp face.  I am the Kwisatz Haderach - a voice from the outer world come to deliver upon my enemy such a terrible and furious retribution that all who witness it will despair and weep.  The world will tremble at my passage, and none will look upon me - for to do so means Death Eternal.

This is a very "tough" way of saying that I like to click on my enemies and see them die in new and interesting ways - like most gamers (as far as I know).  I play games to escape the realities of life - you know, things like traffic, bad managers, dumb people  - and we aren't even going to get into politics.

My game is my escape - its my fun.  I don't want to see people die in my games unless I choose for them to die - like pushing them out of a window like a Renegade move (like a Boss).  Sometimes the game makes you choose - as in ME1, and that was all good and well.  I wish I could have saved both Kaidan AND Ashley, but hey, this isn't teddy bears and unicorns and smurfs, now is it?

If a character has to die it should not be taken lightly or rushed and hurried - it has meaning for each and every one of us - whether or not Thane was a LI.  At least he went out swinging.

My point - I want my games to be fun.  If it HAS to be a doom and gloom setting I want my ray of light at the end.

I agree. I wish more care and love and value was given to femshep and Thane in their reunion. It is just casual talk...casual talk about death...and then he talks about his erection and thrusts into her and femshep has orgasm on Thane in front a Salarian nurse. It is very awkward.
