It's probable this topic will come up again in the future. So inb4 this thread gets buried too deep: I would like to have a F/F-only Asari romance and a M/M-only Turian romance in the next game.

+1 for alien romance
I'd slip one into a Hanar

I'd definitely be in favor for alien romances in ME4. In fact, I'd be a little disappointed if they went back to just humans and asari at this point. I don't think we need to see one of every race type of thing, but it wouldn't be bad to see a little diversity. Perhaps mix it up a bit and give us a female turian or salarian and a male quarian, plus an asari and two or three humans? That would be a nice balance, I think.

In my opinion chances for alien romance options with particular aliens in MENext are:
- Male Turian = 100%, Female Turian = 100%
- Asari = 100%
- Krogan = 0% (no surpise here), but 50% chance for an epic bromance.
- Hanar = 0%
- Male Batarian = 10%, Female Batarian = 5%
- Male Drell = 30%, Female Drell = 10%
- Male Quarian = 75%, Female Quarian = 90 % (provided they will be playing part in the game at all)
- Elcor = 0%
- New organic sentient spieces = 100% (if only new aliens turn out to be humanoid like turians)

I can't help but laugh at any of the posts that claim that bioware is catering to fan service by including Tali and Garrus but are ok with the asari--like that entire race is not fan service!

I actually found Samara a far more interesting "romance" *snip*
Agree about Samara. One of my favorite Sheps only ever tried with her and nobody else. It was done really really well and with the fix to ME3, it made it a good path to follow.

I just hope that they don't give us the 'same old' characters in the next one. I don't want another male turian, female quarian, male drell, and asari romances. Asari, I fully expect, but the others can be mixed up a bit.
I forgot that there were going to be two new sentient alien species. Yeah, I suspect that at least one of them will be a romance option as well, if they are humanoid. Romances are an easy way to expand lore around new species.

Of the existing species I think the only options (thankfully) are Asari, Turian, Quarian, and maybe Drell. The others are all far too alien, IMO. Even the Turians & Drell are pushing it a bit.

My issue with the alien romances in Mass Effect is that males get only "basically human" options (Asari, Quarian), while straight females get only "very alien" options (Drell, Turian).
It's one of the reasons why I want to see a female Turian, to give us a very alien female LI, and a Male Quarian, to give us a very near-human male alien LI. They could also finally give us the "face reveal" moment Tali's romance never had.
Admittedly the main reason is just that I find the idea of female Turian and male Quarian LI's really appealing.

Kaiden. Jacob. I'd say that ME is for white straight females what DA:I was for white straight males.

I also noticed this and hope it will be rectified if they decide to include future alien races as romances.

If the Asari were originally fanservice for the straight guys, they have a healthy bi/lesbian fanbase as well now. Personally, I love everything about the Asari. Everything! One of the more intriguing things being that two females can contribute their genetic material to creating an offspring (the randomized bits scanned from the father's DNA). And because the DNA is scanned, not physically exchanged and integrated, any species can breed with the Asari. I'm still hoping their will be a mention of a child/children for Liaramancers.
I think it's pretty interesting that our own scientists were recently able to get two female mice to produce a few healthy daughters. Unfortunately, the survival rate was very low for the offspring ( 2 out of several hundred), and the lead scientist has already said he doesn't think (given the low survival rate) it can be done for two human females, at least not with our current knowledge and skill with genetics. I'm hoping it can be done in the future, but until then I can at least get a lesbian romance with the promise of children, little blue children.

I know some male DA:I fans were disappointed with the female LI options, but how does race come into play with that?

I went into the first Mass Effect game expecting to hate the Asari, based on having read that they were ME's take on Captain Kirk's green alien LI from Star Trek. One I got into the game however I thought Bioware did a good job overall on the lore for the species, and that they were one of the more interesting species in the series. Not that there wasn't room for improvement of course.

Just mix things up a bit like do a female turian or drell or a male quarian don't just do the same types from sheps trilogy.

Especially the turians with their mandible faces and scales. It's a stone's throw from romancing Christopher Johnson from District 9.

I wanted to romance Kenn from Kenn's Salvage... or Kal'Reegar ![]()
Really though I'd like to see a new race romanceable but I hope they're not too alien looking. Turian's have no facial expressions and krogan? Yeesh.

Touched a nerve did I? If you can't see how much fan service the asari are, I'm not going to waste my breath.
Being able to romance a turian or quarian is not excess. If you feel uncomfortable with romancing anything outside a blue human (asari), then that's on you. But there are some of us who have no problem entering into a romance with Garrus or Tali; they are good characters who we get to know and form relationships with--friendly or romantic.

Tali?
After the reveal the Quarians are far more human in appearance than the Asari. The Quarians have basically been turned into Star Trek aliens like the Bajorans:

Alien romances?

I avoid romancing aliens at all cost on my male Shepards, the very idea has never sat right with me at all. I'm only able to do it on my Femshep because I can easier detach myself from her, even then, I still have a hard time taking it seriously, it just feels like one big massive joke on Bioware's part.
Like in the trilogy, a handful of alien romances will probably be in the new Mass Effect, but human romances will be the large majority of romances once again.
