I really romanced only two characters seriously, Ashley and Tali, Tali is the one I stuck with the most through my playthroughs. I dont really care much if they are alien or not, its mostly the character that matters. As for my femshep, she is seriously ambigious, I cant figure out what kind of character she is, but one thing is clear she is not interested in any ME1 romances at all.

If they do something sequelish and still retain most of the species from the previous games then I think there is also a big chance we will get more new species. And new species always gets a romancable character. Like the drell for example. Or prothean. Plus while its highly probable that we will get human only main character options it is also possible that we might get a choice in choosing the species of the main character. I would still probably play as human. Even in Dragon Age games where the choice was always there I still felt most comfortable with the humans.

I really want to be able to romance (as a male) a male human and a male turian. Give me that and I'd be really happy.

I do think Bioware attempted to give us a M/M Human/Turian relationship with Gavorn and the unidentified, casually dressed human man. I know there was some contention about this where some people were saying just because two dudes are in a bedroom together doesn't mean they're screwing. But I don't think the Shadow Broker collects useless data like two guys just chilling out in a bedroom, especially because the unknown man is nobody of importance (we never find out who he is). The Shadow Broker uses intel to blackmail people, topple governments, etc. The focus on their interaction in the bed/bedroom as opposed to when they were somewhere else in the apartment like the living room or kitchen, I think more was going to happen in the bed than talking. ;)

Anyway, I would like to see a M/M Turian romance option as well.

Never was a fan of alien sex encounters. Too late to complain about it though. I hope for a more platonic side to interspecies romance arcs.

Hi guys. I just want to speculate a bit.
What do you think are the possibilities of getting alien romances in MENext? I'm pretty much sure we can get asari and turian romances, since both these races are very popular and romances (Garrus and Liara) are loved by many fans. Quarian romance might be a possibility too if they're in game still. I mean, we could wipe out the entire race in ME3, so if the devs take our previous choices into account, it would be strange to have quarians in the next game.
As for me, I'd like to see a salarian romance in the next game. I think it could be very interesting. Though I doubt it would happen, aside from maybe a small flirt or something like that.
What's your opinion on the matter?

Let it happen so long as we don't end up playing as a Volus romancing an Elcor i think we'll do fine. Would like for romances to feel a bit more foreign, add some alien culture to it, some hurdles that need to be overcome. It should'nt be as simple as 'talk to the alien 5 times and get laid at the end'.

I was hoping the Tali romance would be more like that. Hopefully for the next game! DA has had a couple of romances that don't focus on sex, and those are pretty popular too, so ME could definitely make it work.

If they did decide to try a salarian romance (as was mentioned on page 1), I would hope that would be platonic.

Alien romance? I am not above romancing pretty humanoid aliens. A face with lips and eyes, a chest with breast, and I do love nice long legs. Quarian's are alright, and so are asari. But a salarian? No!

And how one would even go around romancing a salarian? They dont even have that kind of sex drive as humans, quarians, turians, drell or even asari. They are literally something like an evolved frog, or some kind of amphibian.

But it would be interesting to see quarians without the suits.

And playing ME1 again today for my new playthrough I somehow ended up getting a relationship with Ashely(I was trying to avoid it but without sounding as some kind of ass) and then after leaving her on Virmire I ended up having the romance scene with Liara(not sure how exactly since I didnt choose the answers which usually led to it) and upon the game completion I realised that I left one unintentional girlfriend to die, slept with Liara who I never thought of romancing and now in ME2 going to romance Miranda. My shepard is a frakking jerk, by accident.

Would love a lesbian drell or Turian or something else. There was a serious lack of females from other races, so hopefully next ME will feature a lot of females from each race. Come on, jfc.

Also, as always, I would like another asari as LI, different personality of course.

I'd like to romance some other alien types maybe, as long as they're not walking social justice messages...

Irrelevant. :)

I actually think AI romance is a go. I think Bioware tests stuff and tries it out in larger ways in future games.

EDI and Joker was just the start.

You had to know they're not stopping at alien romance.

Could be an asexual romance

Ha, I am on Mass Effect 1 right now, too. I just begun my new play-through last month, though I am nearing the end. Yes it takes me four to eight weeks to finish one part of the story. Regardless, I actually am romancing Ashley this time -- on purpose -- becuase 60% of the time I go with Liara.

But for your current play-through, there is at least a little bit of a bright side: you did not have to go through an ugly breakup, yet still got some.

To be fair, we never found out what exactly happened during those non-Asari alien sex scenes. Maybe it didn't work out the usual way. Maybe all they could do was mutual masturbation or using sex toys (I'm sure there's an industry for that...). Heck, human lesbians don't have the appropriate parts for each other (and gays need lube AFAIK) but they make it work.

To those who said Turians look like monsters, that's very subjective. You're free to pick a human LI if you prefer something closer to home but don't be surprised if others find the aliens beautiful. I personally find it hard to judge a Turian by appearance, as I don't have beauty standards for such an exotic species, but I think they look intriguing and definitely not off-putting. And even if an alien doesn't look particularly pretty (sorry Javik), it's still possible to be physically attracted to them if you like their character. Although this is me speaking as a female and we're hypothesised to pick partners based on charisma rather than looks (up to a point, anyway).

So I'd say "yes of course please!" for more alien romance. And also please make more interesting human romances. I haven't heard a single player say that they liked the Jacob romance. And Miranda is widely considered a walking sex doll, nothing more.

And with all romances, there should be some *reason* for why this character feels close to PC and why PC should feel close to them. It was very obvious with Garrus - he was the first one from your old crew to rejoin you so you already had a bit of a history and the affinity between the two felt natural. With many characters, the romance option was only there because that character was there. There wasn't any actual spark between Shepard and the character.

As for human-synthetic relationships, I was already very fond of Legion so I'd surely consider that if it were a possibility :)

Yeah the only romances that felt like they were really supposed to be were the three companions that were with you through the games, Liara, Garrus and Tali. Personally I go for Tali from the aliens camp, Liara always felt more of a friend than a romantic interest.

As for humans, I greatly regret what they did to Miranda, there is so much potential there especially as a romantic interest, but the whole sex-scene in the engineering was just an exercise in some writer's fantasy.

And I never understood why her physical features were so...exaggerated, the actress who provides the voice and the face is gorgeous enough so they could have just transferred more or less her real body into the game.

I think it was done to emphasize that Miranda was genetically engineered to be perfect. Real people, even beautiful ones like Yvonne Strahovski, have some physical flaws. But Miranda wasn't born naturally, she was the product of genetic engineering.

So I think her overall look was fine. The white catsuit (the black one wasn't bad for the ship) and some of those camera angles could have been cut, but I think her general look was fine and made some sense considering the character's background.

Honestly that huge wrong shaped ass looked worse than pretty much any other female characters. And yeah the constant camera angles, they could have at least made it non-static and pan around her, showing her "perfectness" if they so wanted to make the point.

But I loved the white catsuit, I just didnt think it was the most appropriate thing to wear in a firefight.

I am thinking that the reason why Miranda was so weird was because they tried to glue on the extra bits of her model on the basic female skeleton, as her jaw for example is far too large. Probably the flaws in the in-game engine, after all we have all seen the "standard" body for female and male humans, for most characters they just tweaked that. Only the aliens really get their own body models.
