I think I might have a problem with Miranda because I have seen the actress that was the prototype. And man I have to say I liked the prototype a lot more. If anyone has seen Chuck, they would understand that its basically just a blonde Miranda in real life.
And probably its because I prefer women who are tall and as a consequence mostly slim. Like Tali.
On another note, I would like to see more female aliens, and also romantic relationships that are not centered on the main character.

I often wonder how the fans would have reacted if the alien romances had been switched and would have turned out to be...
A male Asari named Liario (from an all male bisexual race)
This would have ended very very badly. The butthurt! The outrage! Just imagine.

Yeah you cant have an all male species. All female is a possibility but all male, no. I would be fine if they added some humans into that mix.

The more diversity, the better. Personally, I'm hoping for a female turian this time around. We anticipated the reveal up until ME3 DLCs, only to have our turian squaddie already be taken and die. That's shitty foreplay, Bioware.
Also, I feel like Bioware is way better at creating alien characters. Maybe it's because I can get my humans elsewhere. Maybe aliens are more fun to write.
I'm kind of hoping for a female turian squadmate, maybe the romance could be similar to Garrus' romance in ME2.

An all female species is actually possible, an all male one isn't really.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teiidae
Certain species of whiptail lizards have all-female or nearly all-female populations.[3] These lizards reproduce by parthenogenesis, and research has shown that simulated mating behavior increases fertility. For instance, one female lies on top of another, engaging in pseudocopulation. However, this claim has been disputed, as Collins and Pinch relate.[4] When they lay eggs, the lizard that was on bottom has larger eggs while the one on top has smaller. The lizards switch off this role each mating season.[5] The offspring are genetic clones of the mother, sparking debate as to how these lizards evolve or adapt to the environment.[6]
The blue alien space babe bit is obviously silly, though. And Liara doesn't look like a clone of Benezia, though I suppose you could put that down to nurture effects.

Didn't any of you listen to Liara in ME1? "My race is mono-gendered. Male and female have no real meaning to my species."
Now, if you're saying that everything that talks like a female and walks like a female is a female... You've got some soul searching to do.

The Asari are an all female species. It's in their codex entry.
Monogendered doesn't mean 'no gender.' The prefix mono means one or single. For example a religion that only worships only one god is monotheistic, and person who only has one sexual partner is monogamous. Monogendered would mean one gender. The Asari have a single biological sex, and that sex is female.
What Liara was saying was not that she isn't biologically female, but that the concept of gender doesn't have the meaning for her species as it does for humans...because unlike humans they aren't divided into males & females.

I just don't see why there couldn't be all male species. I guess people would wonder how they would reproduce but I don't think that is the problem. I think there can be various ways to do that. Those men could reproduce with women from other races and now that their technology is more advanged they could have created artificial wombs or they could reproduce with each other in some way. It doesn't have to happen in a similar way like humans or mammals reproduce.

Asari ability to reproduce with other species is not biological in nature. They basically link with their partner to form a temporary single nervous system, then they basically copy their own DNA and scramble it around a bit using information gained from their partner. Its basically like cloning but they require someone else to act as a randomizer.
An all male species could only be possible with artificial means, biological reproduction between different species is not possible.

I still don't see why all male species couldn't reproduce with females of other species. The process is just diffirent than with two humans for example.

Okay, then that can still happen.
I didn't even say they had to have ALWAYS been 'all male'.

I was answering SilentShadowsNew. Yeah all male species is possible with artificial means of gestation but I somehow think that if the species had the technology to create artificial wombs they would probably be able to heal/cure whatever killed their women.

Oh okay.
Maybe they don't even need wombs.
I embrace the 'alien' in 'alien', though Mass Effect only 1/2 does that. *shrug*

Yeah but even if they lay eggs, the egg has to be formed inside the female, usually, unless they are seahorses. That is one damn weird species.

Because the species is alien then it's possible that they might reproduce by dividing themselves or use some plants as a womb or they could be something similar like seahorses. So I think it's more possible than impossible to create all male species.
