Well, the Velveteen looks more brown than red to me, at least it did when I tested it on the elven cowl. Also, canine leather is light brown.

But is there a brown cloth?
Like I said above, the Velveteen certainly looks brown on some items, like the elven cowl.

I have really been hoping that is a bug. I don't particularly like how certain mats look shiny on some items and not on others. Highever weave looks almost velvet on armor but on a battlemage hood it looks like silk.
Eh, I guess it's not a huge deal. I'll just keep experimenting.

Why would a cloth being brown be a bug? Anyway, I just tested Velveteen again, using the sturdy battlemage armor and the inquisitor hat. Both came out looking brown. Not too bad shade of brown, either. The color does change a bit due to lighting in different map locations, though.

I apologize for being unclear. I had hoped that materials changing color depending on what you make with them was a bug. I have no idea if it is. It just seems strange to me that it would change color when used for different things. Anyway, I'll drop this now. Hopefully when I try velveteen it'll look brown for me as well.

Ah, I understand and yes, I fully agree with you; it shouldn't change. Two good examples are the Imperial Vestment Cotton and the Silk Brocade. The IVC changes from solid pink to god-awful dark'ish pink plaid pattern. And the Silk Brocade... put that on Sera's armor and it looks glorious, royal dark blue. Now put that same brocade to Dorian's armor and you get not so nice blue plaid pattern. It's really frustrating.

Is there any black colors for leather or cloth? Its hard being stealthy in bright colors. I know some metals that are dark or black.
Great bear hide is black I believe and darkened samite is blackish I think.

It's the closest to black in the game.
