I have to say, I'm a little annoyed at Bioware. I just got to Skyhold, and here I find Dorian shoving his and their pro-mage agenda down my throat. Sure, he seems to express some doubt about whether or not his Tevinter upbringing is true and that maybe the magisters really did cause the First Blight. It's not enough, though. Clearly, Tevinter are all evil and should just admit it.
Bioware and their pro-Tevinter agenda

Is take it this is a joke? The entire point of that particular conversation is Dorian buying into the idea that Tevinter singlehandedly inflicted the blights on the world. His previous Haven conversation, when the Mages are recruited (if allied) states quite plainly that Tevinter is not, in his view, an example to look upon favorably regarding mage relations. Dorian's blind spot concerning slavery makes it clear, as well, that as much as he would like to improve his own country and right its wrongs, there are societal issues so deeply ingrained as to defy any easy resolution.
All this without saying that the Venatori are the only one of the two enemy factions to be derived from a specific nation... that being Tevinter.
It's pretty plain Tevinter is morally ambiguous at best (like most factions in Thedas) in Bioware's construction.

Grampa: "...is your name Bart?"
Bart: "mm-Hmm"
Grampa: "What the?! Does your father know you're working here?!"
Bart: "It was his idea."
Grampa: "In that case, I'll have a whiskey sour."
moral of the story: stay in silly threads. we have booze.

Absolutely not! They brought sin upon all the world!

See, and I thought it would be the shoving of agendas down throats bit. I suck at satire, apparently.

I thought that was suspicious, but it's been used with sincerity so damn often it becomes very hard to tell. It's also been too long since that "The brain-wiping Qunari are being retconned all cuddly." thread. Well-played.

It's kind of what I'm hoping for in DA4, that Tevinter are the good guys all along.
Not quite sure how that could work with the slavery and slaves being used as batteries for the darker Blood magic rituals. Kind of a tough sell really.

You'll have to forgive me, I've been stuck at work for six hours and my brain is sufficiently addled (long ass week). It did make me laugh and is a refreshing change from all BioWare's other "agendas".Absolutely not! They brought sin upon all the world!

Yeah, I so hope we get to see Minrathous in DA4.
I'm not exactly pro-Tevinter, given the whole blood sacrifice of slaves bit, but I really liked the portrayal of Dorian. He even had an awesome (mostly in the sense that it felt very realistic, if sad) response to my Inquisitor's indignation regarding slavery. I don't think they're good guys, but neither is anyone else.

Yeah, DA4 could be a redemption story for Tevinter, clean up the corruption infecting the place. They need to get over it, they're not going to rule over Thedas again. I'm not sure I want the Qunari conquering the place either though.
Definitely want to see Minrathous though. Hopefully as a fully developed area instead of what they did with Val Rouyeox

If we go to Tevinter in DA4, I hope we get to tear the current system down. That or have an option to not support them.

Eh, I don't think it is that bad.
With DA4 we got a different view - of course Dorian isn't going to say, "yes, Tevinter is horrible". But we got both Bull, Krem and Dorian's perspective on Tevinter. To add to what we know from Fenris in DA2 (and it was interesting to get Bull's perspective on the Fog Warriors too).

Yeah, I was a little disappointed in Val Royeaux, too, but at least it's better than Elder Scrolls cities in which there's no head canon possible to say "This is just a part of it." Well, anything is possible with head canon, but it's more difficult to suspend disbelief, at least.

That would be definitely be cool. I'm not crazy about a society that gives rulership by virtue of happenstance of birth, but then again, the most democratic of societies will always be ruled by people born charismatic and intelligent, in that order, so I dunno.

I liked what little we saw of Felix, a lot. So not all Tevinter are bad. I wish Felix could have lived and become part of the Inquisition.

I support neither. Both are equally evil. Having an option to eliminate both would be ideal.

The problem here is if you want to tear Tevinter down tot he ground then you'll have the Qunari to deal with next. After dealing with Qunari you'll probable be facing a **** storm between Orlais and Ferelden since these are the two most powerful leaders left. Aaaaaaand if you manage to bring down one of them and rule the whole world as one you're bound to run into new factions that see your rule as "trynannical". It's never ending in the world of Dragon Age.

How can you dislike Tevinter?! It's basically the ROMAN EMPIRE with MAGES. What is there not to like? I sure do want to see a pro-Tevinter agenda.
