Yeah I'm missing these. Good to know. This makes a lot more sense.

How do I choose my heroes/inquisitions AI? How do I edit it?

My recommendation is to place Defensive Tactics as Preferred; Talents that increase Guard for Warriors, Barrier and escapes for Mages, Stealth and escapes for Rogue.

In Behavior, reduce Mana/ Stamina restrictions a bit lower to 30%, lower Potion consumption to 20%, set Follow to themselves (ie; their own names), or ranged companions to Follow the Warrior of choice. This should aid the party overall.

I thing I messed up - I'm doing the confront Alexius mission and I don't have any supply crates left, do I have to go to an earlier save since I need some potions to fight Alexius?

EDIT - I found any old save file and got around this.

Behaviours, so I see follow and defend. Just two. What do they mean? Should I set someone like Solas (my support) to defend? Since if he goes down my party suffers.

Get a fog machine and hire some DJ.

Oh wait, you're talking about the game.

AI in this game sucks. Most of them will ignore enemies' attack and don't even try to avoid it. It's better to bring high defensive characters like Blackwall or Cassandra to tank and heal them accordingly. If you don't like micromanagement, don't bring Cole since he has low defense and always try to tank stuffs. Even mages will often just attack in one spot even when the enemies get close to them.

follow means that the companion will target the same thing as the character he is set to follow.
Defend means that the companion will only target things which attack the character he is set to defend.
follow self means he will attack whatever gets in his range.
Guard self means the character will only react if he is attacked.

Follow self is great for tanks.espesially if the player is a flanker. In these cases you dont want the tank to share your target. You want him attacking what is closest to him.
Follow tank is great for ranged. Again this is espesially good if the player is a flanker.
Guard tank is great for cole. Cole will not tank, he will only attack things already engaging the tank. He will also do it intelligently, from the flank.

Is it worth having a strictly support mage like Solas? Or is having support not a good idea? I like that the way I set up Solas is so he can revive and get rid of conditions.

And I've read that as a dual blade Tempest the flask of frost isn't a skill I should have why? It gives extra defence and turns enemies to ice.

Actually prefer to have two Mages in the party, as Barrier can be a priority.

Cannot help with Tempest, as I chose Artificer. The Passives are great, and Elemental Traps can be useful; the rest is unclear.

So I shouldn't waste points on the others except barrier? Other then that should I treat Solas like a typical rift mage?

I gave Solas Spirit/ Frost/ Rift Mage choices; seemed to fare pretty well. And I let Vivienne use Fire, and Dorian covered Electrical; both has Spirit choices, too.

What I mean, I'm choosing ALL of the spirit choices. Are there some that are critical? Or can I get away with just barrier and the one where the detection is lower? Do I need resurrection? Or is it since my party is lacking that I need it?

I'm trying to figure out how to make a support character. Or do you even need one if a party is competent enough?

Re: rushing the Hissing Wastes, I'd recommend trying for lurker scales. If you use 3+ dagger rogues, lurkers get essentially stunlocked (because of the attack animations) so it only becomes a problem if another lurker wanders by. And the scales give bonus cunning, which raises crit chance and ranged defense - helpful if rogues are getting sniped by archers.

(plus there's a campsite that's near a lurker spawn, so it's easy to rush out, kill one, and heal up)

While I understand that Mind Blast should detonate combos, I did not notice such results in my own game, but I hide all Floating Text. I would skip this, and keep Dispel. The ability that raises characters is useful, but is more likely to be needed more on higher Difficulty settings.

Okay I've come up with a new party what do you think.

Tempest

Rift Mage

Necromancer

Champion

I figure if I give both the rift and necro barrier and elegant defence and then just focus on their respective classes.

Or I'm thinking of creating a strictly barrier mage.

Are barrier mages a required on hard? Or can you get around it and just have both mages with barrier + elegant defense.

Nothing is required even on nightmare, especially not barrier or even mages at all.

I don't know what benefit there is to a strictly barrier mage. It seems like a waste.

Placing Barrier as Preferred on each Mage should be helpful, then perhaps set each to Follow themselves or the Champion. And while Barrier may not be essential for some, it was useful for my campaign.

Also recommend grenades as third slot items; Jar of Bees or the fire bombs if available. Placing a mix into each party was also useful, as some opponents might be fairly resistant to one or the other.

Is that for Crafting? Not certain how it works, but skip Tier 1, practice with Tier 2, then make Tier 3+ for end game weapons and armors.

How do I make tier 3+?

Yeah this game does a poor job explaining ANYTHING.

There are some Tier 3 schematics for sale in game, and have read that some loot drops have Tier 4 materials (eg; Dragons); seek confirmation on the latter.
