I haven't beaten the game due to rpg ocd 
(aka do everything you can,not just rush towards the end),but due to a new busy schedule I have to cut time from playing games. So I'm thinking about finishing the game,but I don't know if you can do side quest after the game is beaten.
So with out spoiling can you do side quest after like Mass Effect 2,3 or is it like Mass Effect 1,KOTOR 1,2,and almost every rpg the infamous point of no return 
?
Not speaking from personal experience (yet), but a dev's comment some time ago said it was possible to continue. I think there may not be any/much party member interaction though.
Yes, you can definitely do side quests after you finish the main story. You want to finish romance and any quests for your Inner Circle first. Those become unavailable afterwards.
I assumed some quest would become impossible to do like the loyalty missions in Mass Effect 2. Can't wait to replay the game again in the summer.

The inner circle quests become unavailable after the end, but all the rest of the side quest and regions you didn't explore are available
