I got my 2nd UR to X, the Valkyrie   <_<

I remember back in the day lots of talk about theories about the method that had the best % for UR cards dropping. Did we ever achieve consensus on what it's best?

- Buying spectre packs (To max out consumable faster, and therefore, force the UR cards to drop)

- Buying PSP

- Buying arsenal packs

Seriously, I don't play as often as I did, I try to save like 5 million to go on a buying spree on the RNG store, and yesterday I only got 1 UR card...I've had my Javelin sitting at IX for almost 2 years, and the completitionist in me wants to see it filled out to X.

On other hand, nice to see the community is still alive and well...it's been a while since I've been here. And nice to see there are still many people playing on the PC (and most of the PUGs I played are pretty good).

Happy 2015 everybody!

You know, I can't remember.  I maxed my manifest over 2 years ago.

I think the consesus now is that Arsenal Packs provide the best chance for UR drops.

I don't know how many hours you're in, but it took me some 900 to max my manifest. I've been semi-lucky though, know of people who played more (and more efficiently too, as I tend to waste a lot of consumables sometimes) and took longer. It's too much random making progress incredibly random too, and should be finetuned a bit for ME4 I think. Anyway good luck with future upgrades, hope it doesn't take ages to max it.

Edit: maxing consumables does not give you a bigger chance at the black cards. Nor does buying the more specific (arsenal/the other one with the char cards) packs. Every pack has a chance to drop an UR, regardless of what would normally be in it. If it drops an UR it will never get replaced by consumables cause you're lacking them or something. Nor character cards in the those packs.

I usually spam spectre's, it's been a long time so I don't quite remember the statistics, but I always went for PSP's when I saved up and went on a shopping spree.

It's not the years, it's the hours.

Keep playing and you'll get there eventually!

The fastest way to max your manifest is to play with a guy called crashsuit.

So, I'm around 600 hours according to N7 Headquarters.

I remember back in the day, I used to save like 4-5 million credits, then would go buying tons of spectre packs and maxed out most of my rare cards pretty quickly.

I shifted buying PSP, didn't had much luck. Then the arsenal/reserve packs came out, started buying them but I noticed they weren't that much effective.

I'm wondering if the probability % of buying much more SP over PSP could play out in my favor in the long run (IE, spending millions of credits in one sitting).

I just want my Javelin X damnit! But I don't play as much as I used to do back in the day, when ME3 was the only game I played daily. Nowadays I have way too many games to keep my occupied lol.

There is nothing you can do to change the UR drop rate.  Each Spectre pack has one slot that has a potential for an UR drop (I think it's 5% or something like that), and each 99k pack has two slots (meaning double the % chance).  So basically, what you do is this:

- If you want URs, but you also want to build up consumables, then buy SP's.  SP's also help you build up Rare Gear the fastest, IIRC.

- If you only care about UR's, then buy the 99k packs.  They give you a slightly better UR probability for the money.  There is no difference in UR probability between the three 99k packs.  Arsenal Packs will rarely ever give you a character card, and they will almost always drop Level IV consumables if they don't drop URs (assuming you have your weapons/gear maxed).  So if you don't want character cards, then buy APs.

To date, this is probably the closest we have to a consensus on UR drop rates: http://forum.bioware...er-30-0439-gmt/

There is a detailed document linked in the first part of that post that summarizes the findings.

We already know the drop rate is 7.5%. I confirmed it. It's in the balance changes coalesced.

PSP has 2 UR slots, both 7.5%. Not sure how it chooses what pack to pick, 2 of 3 do not have URs, I assume once you max out UR's it no longer picks ones with URs.

Buy JEPs to max out consumables.

Buy PSP/arsenal for URs cards.

Play a lot Plat, ask friends to carry you.

600 hrs is nowhere near the average time to max a manifest, it starts around 800hrs but can be lot more, depending on the difficulty one plays.

PSP has 2 UR slots, both 7.5%.

PSPs, APs, and RPs all have two slots which are independent (see the statistical analysis in the big thread o' drop rate). So it doesn't really matter which 99K pack you buy.

I'm surprised it took that many posts for someone to link this. Good call.

My method is simple.  I always save up at least 2-3 million, then I buy Jumbo Equipment Packs until my consumables (gels, etc.) are all at 255.  Next, when I was promoting, I would buy PSPs (for character cards to help lvl up those pesky lvl 1s).  Now, since I am done promoting, I buy Arsenal Packs since they don't drop character cards.  I usually get about 5 or so URs with every 20-30 packs, but I have seen less.

The reason I max out consumables first is so each AP or PSP has 3 lvl 3 items instead of 2 and some medi-gel.  20,000 creds for some medi-gel seems lame to me.  I usually spend about 1/5 of my saved creds on JEPs and the rest ends up going to APs at this point.

Yeah, I believe it's more related to time, I think I was around the 800-900 hour mark when I maxed mine 2 years ago.  Of course I do really believe having it maxed before the new dlc dropped help out a lot as well.  Just keep grinding, saving money and keeping your consumables topped off.  Have you considered speed running your matches?

cough cough... you could always get missle glitch team together for a few hours so you can purchase packs until your arsenal is maxed out.. Of course I would never do that; that would be WRONG!

I think one of my major goals was to get my Typhoon at X. I think i maxed my manifest a little over a year ago. I generally didn't pay attention to how the packs dropped UR's tho....i generally just kept playing and everything came naturally without me even thinking about it. Just enjoy the game, the store will always troll you and it will drop the weapons you want when you least expect it.
