I recently unlocked the specializations and so re-spec'd Dorian in his Necro specialization with points also in Spirit and Inferno.

For some reason he's not casting any of the Necro or Inferno spells, but he will cast Barrier from Spirit and when I check under tactics there is a message "Some of these abilities not currently available" or words to that effect.

 

I could not even cast Spirit Mark when I went into tactical to try and cast the spell myself ( I prefer to let my companions run on auto as much as possible.  I can cast Immolate from tactical.

 

Has anyone else run into this issue?

 

(I also put this under Customization - Party Members as I'm not sure where this should go.)

"Some of these abilities are not currently available" means you are still in combat . Wait until the party sheaths their weapons. As I recall some abilities of that tree are disabled by default from the tactics. And be sure to cast Spirit Mark on a still living target.

If he was holding up his end, I think I would have noticed...

Check to see if the skills he's not using require focus.  Perhaps the focus pool is too  low?

 

And yes, award for eye catching thread title.  That's quite a visual you evoke there.

That message you're getting is just because you're in combat, you can't assign abilities to buttons/hotbar or change tactics while in combat, that's what that is referring to.

It's odd though that he's not casting things - he casts spirit mark all the time for me. About yourself trying though, are you sure he didn't just have too little mana to cast that one at the time?
