Neill Blompkamp, District 9 director, has shown off some concept art for a movie that he was wanting to make, more specifically a new Alien movie. Neill stated that he posted some concept art on his twitter because he has decided to do something else.

i saw them yesterday. Me likely. Ripley in Xenomorph Armor is cool in a creepy way. Maybe I am truly a nightmare fethist.
Not too sure on the 'Xenomorph Spacesuit' but I would watch this.

A sequel full of painfully loud political messages trying to hammer you over the head every 2 minutes. That's not what the Alien franchise needs right now. Honestly the general praise of District 9 and Elysium totally bewilders me, I thought they both kinda sucked, never mind the political agenda of the Director.
No it needs a good crossover with Predator.
Is that a spacesuit made of alien skin?
It probably couldn't be any worse than Alien Resurrection though. I hope Blompkamp is doing a sequel to District 9 instead, I liked that movie despite the profuse swearing and Sharlto Copley's silly accent.

Elysium was over-the-top, but District 9 had the advantage of aliens to muddle up the political heavy handedness IMO. Were the humans and their governments racist in District 9? Yes, but we're dealing with freaking aliens with plasma weapons and mech suits here. 
As long as Neill realizes that the Aliens franchise was not developed on the notion of big government/big corporations = bad; it was based on rape, and the fear of childbirth; and that he wouldn't try and force the story to become political, then I think he could do a decent job with it.

I've been wanting something a bit more corny:
I absolutely hate prequels and reboots, I only want franchises to go forward and as someone that wants to see both series to go forward (despite Jason X sucking), I feel like that would be a pretty good way to continue the story (at least for Friday the 13th).
I would totally settle for a good Alien vs. Predator movie though.
Requiem could've been good if it was lit properly...and didn't have generic slasher filler for the characters.
I don't mind prequels or Reboots though. I only care if it's a good movie.
But what both franchises really needs is this.
No. We need more crossovers, and we need to put Batman in them.
In this case the franchise needs to be rebooted right after Aliens. Everybody can pretend anything after that didn't happen.
And no more gawddamn alien vs predator. Keep them separate.
Though what always mystified me is that Dark Horse never had Aliens Vs. Predators Vs. Star Wars.

Actually, Hicks is quite alive, as long as Colonial Marines is canon, which was said to be. Maybe he can sell the pitch to SEGA if Fox says no to a movie.
The first AvP comic was quite decent, so it can work.
And no adult Newt? Given Weaver and Biehn´s ages, a timeskip is absolutely necessary, so she can appear in her 20s.
