I'm so far using Blackwall, Solas and Sea, but I'm thiking of using Cole since I've heard he's pretty awesome in combat. Who should I replace him with though? Solas?

I'd say Sera honestly. Having 2 mages imo is better than 2 rouges when I was playing on normal/hard, constant barrier uptime while allowing you to make a mage focus on burst while the other focuses on support/cc or mix and match however you like is better. Plus Solas/Cole banter is quite interesting at times.

I rolled 2 rogues in all my playthroughs on nightmare. I simply use Sera + whatever rogue. If I am an archer rogue myself I use Sera as DW. She is my overall favorite combat companion as tempest is my favorite specialization.

 

Ofcourse some combinations will work better than others (Templar + Rift Mage + Archer Tempest is probably as OP as it gets), but all of them are viable if you do not limit yourself since game is not that hard.

 

Sera + Warrior + Rogue + Mage is what I'm always rolling. Specializations don't really matter, I like to mix it up for banter purposes as well.

I'm running two mages in my party and that works nicely. My favourite party is Cassandra, Varric, Solas and me as Knight-Enchanter. Has good synergy and doesn't die. Except when you do the three dragons in Emprise du Lion in a row without restocking your potions, then you might lose Varric for a bit.

I am running Sera, Cassandra and Blackwell, with me as a Necromancer. Sometimes I'll switch out Sera for Dorian or Vivienne if I need more power.A lot of times it depends on what upgrades I have.

 

I used to run a lot with Iron Bull, but he gets himself killed a lot.

I run two mages as well. Myself as KE and Solas. Rouge is either Varric or Cole (depending on the fights I anticipate and, if I need more ranged or more melee) I can't stand Sera so, do not even recruit her. Warrior is Blackwall until mid game then, Iron Bull (he's a bit squishy early on but, not later and, I like him.) Vivienne I find okay up to level 10 or so, then she's useless. Dorian, only if I need a second inferno mage since that is my elemental and, that's only going after ice dragons where Solas would be of no help.

I ran a knight enchanter, and the fastest I ever took down a dragon, one of the bad boys in Emprise no less, was when I had a full mage party   Three out of four mages had Barrier. We barely lost any health. Not a single potion was consumed. I don't do full mage party often because it's kind of unfair lol. 

Regarding your question, you're usually better off running two mages and/or two warriors, rather than two rogues. Replace Sera with Cole.

I usually run KEquiz/Dorian/Cass/Varric. It probably sucks mechanically, but they're fun characters.

Playing as a mage (Knight-Enchanter) I always ran with another mage(either Dorian or Solas), Blackwall because I prefer his tanking spec better than Cassandra's(he's usually the warrior Tank I use no matter what I am playing). And a rogue. usually a toss up between Varric or Cole. I recently made Cole an archer because as a DW rogue he get's squished a lot. So far, he's making a pretty decent archer

Another mage and two warriors. Namely Cassandra and Blackwall. IB dies way to fast. Ask for what mage, I'd say go with Vivienne.

Tanks will aggro while buffing the entire party and mages will be the heavy DPS while supporting the party.

That's the party I ran with for both of my playthroughs (both PCs were mages). Really going to try to branch out this next time. I will always have a companion mage in addition to my PC, though.
