I second this..I feel the same way about Cassandra and Solas. Of the straight romances, anyway. Both seem to fit in with the plot the best.
made a new elf,to go with josie, and lol nope..back to solas..

Nope. Solas romance is nice but it won't replace Bull or Cullen's for me.
I have the same problem but with Cullen my elven mage ls addicted to Sweet templars with furr coats
It's a shame you can't romance Vivienne. She's a dish!
I am right now running a Dalish Elf Mage so i could romance him and see what it was like romancing him and what it did for the story.
And honestly... I'm bored out of my mind with him, I'm 120 hours in. just beat adamant and i guess we are in a relationship now, except for the fact the romance has nothing happening. maybe i'm just not experiencing it correctly and i'm kinda calling out for help here so i can enjoy this majorly important character. but right now i'm regretting not romancing Cullen. ![]()
This happened to me in DA:O with Alistair
Yup, me. I'm still stuck on that guy... Any other romance since has been rather meh for me. Damn, I've revealed too much about myself.
I have yet to start down the Sol-mance road but I do love my Brolas. He and elf-quisitor are tight like underwear and have mad respect for each other. Bros for life! Maybe next character I can try a she elf to get some Sol-mance going.
I have the same thing with Cass.
Tried Josephine, but in the end she lost.
It's a shame Solas has so little romantic content because there's so much more Weekes could've explored with him in this vein. I'm holding out for a romance DLC that expands his content. Usually I enjoy headcanoning, but I'd really like to see more between him and Lavellan in game.
I hate sadness so I have no idea why I can't stop romancing this bald jerk.
It's funny 'cause I'm more of a "hot funny guy with a romantic side and a hero complex" or "hot and angry guy who needs fixing" type of girl so I expected to bang Cullen or even Iron Bull but then I met Solas and his Spockness won me over instantly. Him being unattractively bald suddenly doesn't matter and now I can't remove him from my party and the story doesn't even fit as well as anything other than a female elf who bangs Solas.

As a mainly Dwarf player my love for solas is doomed to be Unrequited.
a female Qunari mage with the deeper american voice
No, really, you have to try that: she's just perfect and, much to my surprise, I liked her acting a whole lot more. And she's so huge you will not want to romance Solas (she would probably break him).
It's still on my to do list ![]()
That was gonna be my third playthrough, but my second one stalled after the game glitched out and Solas started hitting on my human male character who had done nothing but be a complete ******* to him. The game obviously wanted me to hook up with Solas, so I made another elf! ![]()
I have to agree with OP here. Solas thing felt kind of relevant for the character and even had a pretty interesting conclusion. Of course I also could not finish another playthrough either. I don`t think its the romances though, but rest of the game just fails to connect strongly enough for me to care about it. I can make it to Skyhold, but not progress much further than that. Strange feeling, but it is what it is. ![]()
Did get my moneys worth out of it anyway, so its not that bad.
I had no interest in Solas before, but after reading this thread yesterday, I became curious and took particular attention of him today. I'm on my first playthrough (which will be Blackwall all the way) and just arrived at Skyhold. Therefore I just got all his lines surrounding the big bad and his first talk post-Skyhold arrival. I'm intrigued all of a sudden!!! I honestly had no plans to romance him but I guess I'll have to add fem elf to my list of runs.
*raises hand*
Knowing how he feels (hurt, lonely, etc.), I can't romance anyone else. Best.romance.eva
You ruined the other romances for me damn you Bioware! Or not... ![]()
I can't romance anyone period.
Solas is kinda my bro though. He, Dorian, and Cassandra are all my bros.
I had this feeling however in DAO with Morrigan. Very interesting character to me. Hard to beat.
So...this clearly is the best group to ask...are you able to romance Solas if you side with the Templars right off the bat? I would guess making too many anti-mage choices stops it dead in the water right?

Some people have allied with the Templars, allowed the Wardens to join, and drank from the Well of Sorrows and still managed to successfully romance Solas, so I don't think you'll have a problem. Just activate as many elven artifacts as you can find, ask questions, and have an open mind when he talks about Fade related things.

Well the thing about Inquisition is that all character content is spread rather thin because of how huge the game is. So don't go looking for any of the romances to be really meaty in comparison to the rest of the game. Cullen's is larger than most because he's restricted to Skyhold.
However, I found some of the best parts of my Solas playthrough to be just...having him around. Listening to him chuckle at Sera for freaking out about stuff in the water in the Grove of Ghilan'nain, or marveling at the stars with Cole in the Hissing Wastes, or playing chess in his head with Bull while running around Emprise du Lion. Having him always by my side elicited such an affection for the character. The romance content isn't a ton, really. But none of them are. It was the sense of taking on hardships together, and seeing him react to the world, that made the character for me. Especially that moment when you finish some random fetch quest and Solas remarks in his quiet way that you did a good thing by helping those people. It puts his romance scenes in context. When he told my Inquisitor that she had an understanding of the world that he had not seen in a long time, I thought back to all that he had seen of her, and all that they had done together. That scene made me realize that the whole game up to that point had been one long process of falling in love, both for him with the Inquisitor, her for him, and for me with the character.
So eh, that's just my take on it. Might not work for you. But I love slow burn relationships that you kind of have to look between the lines to appreciate fully. ![]()

I allied with the Templars and Wardens, drank from the well, and yelled at him early on for what I perceived to be him insulting the Dalish. I had to do a few of his elven artifact quests to boost his approval, but it was pretty easy (probably too easy, to be honest). For the most part, I agreed with him, so if you are consistent in that then on the main points you can pretty much do what you want.

Don't forget, there are always judgements as well. Solas approves of well thought-out rulings and disapproves of unnecessary bloodshed. He'll rarely approve of just cutting someone's head off (unless it's that Tevinter ponytail guy).
Thanks for the advice! I'm still torn on what to do on my next play through...just finishing my first and thought I had my next kind of planned out with riding the Bull. Then the Blackwall bit happened and that was crazy/intriguing and I'd like to see it from a romance angle. BUT then I'm at end game and suddenly Solas seems incredibly interesting if it's heading here I think it might (I'm human in this play through so no romance, just intrigue).
Now, the only thing I know is that even as I finish, I wanna play again. Only fact.
I really appreciate the Solas advice though! ![]()
