Hiyo folks, long time Bioware game player first time ever posting a thread on this forum however(ill change my profile later, im at work). After reading around and lurking on my downtime i noticed no topics really about the fun you can have as a DW Artificer. Sure the occasional proclomation of "EXplosions!!!!!" but otherwise not so much so i decided to post my own fun.
My character was intended to be a crazy ass tinkerer/alchemist with little regard for anything not blowing up/being lit on fire, or not drunk. Though he respects Cassandra(going for her). So i constantly debated between Artificer and Tempest and decided that Artificer suited me much better.
And what a joy it is! Naturally i have the most important passive Oppertunity Knocks along with Looked Like it Hurts and Cheap Shot. With my Cole as an assassin archer he nails incredibly hard, stays at range(set him on follow himself, get threat reduction passive, and just move him back again whenever he does hidden blades/or use jump shot, also get evade) and doesn't get hurt much. And boy oh boy does he refresh my cooldowns. This alongside my massive amount of stam regen from my upgraded elemental mines(it crits SEVERAL times in a row all the way to full stam bar) just makes for constant explosion spam.
EVERYTHING goes boom!. And boy do i mow everything down and sunder it on top of that. And thanks to Cole when i am lazy and don't want to run over to spam traps, i spam knives(that crit and sunder like mad) instead on any ranged target. With my chance on hit for Hidden Blades going, it gets quite nasty.
Lets not forget Spike Trap and it's instant place down into instant knock up. I can wade into a group doing fast aoe damage with my dual blades regaining stamina very fast and quickly pop spike traps for shutdowns that quickly come back into use. Then pop back and fire off elemental mines.
To make him at least an Alchemist to an extent, i use grenades. I swich them around but pitch grenades and antivan fire are amazing. And i have made heal grenades for the rest of my party ![]()
Holy hell is this setup fun.
And a tip for Elemental Mine users out there. Get the spike trap stealth upgrade. Then place the trap in stealth, unstealth laugh as they go up, then evade the other way, turn around and spam your mines. They should be in the exact range you want them to be.
If not the range is very easy to get used to, i have even found ways to wall bounce them for accuracy if i have to. Hell i can toss them around corners with a well placed trick throw. It's a delight. Also use hills and rocks to your advantage. Practice a little with them.
