So my girlfriend and I just had an interesting discussion about the golden nug. We all know that the elusive golden-rabbit-pig-thing must be rich, because it doles out large sums of gold coins to all four party members. But where does it keep this gold? I mean it's an animal. Leprechauns have a pot of gold. Robbers have sacks of cash. Moneybags from Spyro carries a sack of gems. Our friend the nug is a small rodent. So, my girlfriend and I would like to ask the dev team this: where exactly is this gold being stored? Is the Nug in fact a marsupial, not a rodent?

The golden nug is so small and evasive, and there is ever so much of Minsc to search...

The nug IS the gold.. it does not dispense.. you are merely collecting the remains of it's corpse for use as currency.

Yeah, the party shares the mutilated corpse of this insanely cute creature. MP characters are soulless.

You just sell the nug for all that money.

Of course, that doesnt explain why you get more money if there are more people, but I think that what really hapens is that you take all the treasure to the inquisition and the organization just gives you a part of it, like the 10% using the rest for funding the war.

I think that the greatest questions are "Why are there golden nugs running around?","How can they be alive if they are made out of gold?","If they are natural: why aren't they in the single player? If they are artificial: who created them and why?"

If we answer to these questions, we will be able to understand a lot more about golden nugs and their way of living.
They seem an extremely suicidal specie (they always go in the same place even if their familiars died there), they are hunted by pretty much anyone and we have never saw them reproduce... but they still seem to appear again.

There are a lot of misteries about them and I hope that Bioware will finally understand that players need to know these informations.

For me it's obvious. You see, Golden Nugs appear out of 'thin air' and then disappear 'just like that'. For me it's obvious that they are entering our realm from the Fade and re-enter the Fade shortly after. They probably are the last remnants of the Golden City (now known as the Black City), and as such they are extremely valuable.

It's a golden nug. The agents obviously cut it in pieces.

And Thus Spake Andraste:

"And the Maker shall cherish you all as his children, for look before you, do you not see this lowly creature, meekest and most defenseless of his creations, if he doth clothe them in such splendor, how much more must he care for you."

And the crowd did part, and lo they dids't see that all the Nugs gathered there were clothed in a raiment of gold, as a sign of the Maker's care for all things.

Thus Endeth the Chant, from the Book of Miracles, Chapter 4, Verses 2-5.

Do you even know what a lot of Chinese people pay for animal intestines or body parts in the real world? So just maybe in the DA-world a nugs' rear end sphincter is worth loads of money to some people. :P

I once captured a Golden Nug and let it live. One of them even told a funny story.
