We're spreaaaadiiiing! That says a lot. We just need more headcanons and fanart and fanfiction though.

Now I'm here thinking that Varric would be Cassandra's scribe or letter-writer or something. Then when she has to write letters, he does it for her, and makes it either sarcastic or passive-aggressive if not overly-serious or comically serious and pretend that Cassandra actually wrote it and everyone would be "ARE YOU SURE IT'S THE DIVINE WHO WROTE THAT?"

Of course, Varric writes his fair share of business-type letters when Cassandra provokes him/when the issue is not to be joked about for real, but most of the time Cass actually finds it a good way to talk better to people cause, you know, people open up a little when the conversation's rather casual.

But when I think of Varric as a scribe, I'd think he'd be something like Alistair's scribes when he's king:

Anyway, I need your help on something, guys. I'm writing some stuff about these two, but I can't think up of a new nickname for Cassandra that's not "Princess" (thinking about it, it sounds too much of a joke, since she doesn't want to be associated with her royal lineage anymore) or "Lioness" (I'm thinking this fits more for the Inquisitor in a romance with Cullen than Cass, hahaha).

I'm really stuck. I suck at naming things. Or nicknaming them. I don't know. Whatever works.

Help. ;;

I got nothing for you re: nicknames, but just wanted to leave this thought: do you even have to give Cass a nickname? I think nicknames not supported by the game are tricky things to pull off...it needs you to develop a story for WHY that nickname in addition to it being good in itself. I've read fanfics where the writers make up these nicknames seemingly out of thin air, and while I appreciate what they're trying to do, it seems a little contrived and hokey. Don't get me wrong-it's possible to do well, but it,s harder than it looks and often isn't worth the effort. Why not just stick with Seeker or Cassandra, and save your creative muse for the story.

Just my $.02.

(And I hope I didn't come off like a jerk, I really really was NOT trying to, sometimes it's hard for me to express what I mean-I am trying to be helpful. But I dunno, maybe everyone else loves the nicknames and I'm in the minority here.)

with my little tethraghast comic, i inspire people to write fanfics ;u;

it's such a nice feeling... being an inspiration to someone, and making them ship tethraghast along with us!

[the seeker and her rogue pt1] [the seeker and her rogue pt2] [the seeker and her rogue pt3]

And there have been some updates in the past few days :): [the seeker and her rogue pt4] [the seeker and her rogue pt5]

Only if Qunari get to use a two hander sign that reads "NO!"

Emphasis on "two hander" :D.

I tried to think of some but I didn't really come up with any... I do like Princess and Cass. Lioness doesn't really fit that well for me, at least. But it also depends on the tone in which the nicknames are spoken :). Anyway, I'd love to read your story, no matter if you'll use nicknames or not!

yaaaay!! gonna read it now! ;u;

about nickname for cassandra... maybe it's just me, but i love the idea of varric calling her "princess". nothing close to making fun of her ofc, i always have in mind something more teasing and flirtatious ;u; cass is okay too, but we know how varric loves to avoid people's real names (:

Fanfic time!

So, for anyone who likes smutty pwp fanfic here's a new one (or at least, new to me). It's really not that badly written as far as this genre goes: http://snappy-snips..../cassandra-smut

Quoting from the other varric/cass thread (that's seemed to somehow turn into an anti-josie/blackwall thread???) b/c Its fanart and I don't see it here:

I'll just leave this here

The funniest thing about this Is that this isn't a caricature. Romance novel covers actually looked like this in the mid-90s...

Someone needs to draw a comic of Cassandra enjoying the latest smutty chapter of Swords and Shields, only to realise upon looking at the cover that the handsome dwarven rogue she's been swooning over is actually Varric, in full Fabio mode.

Yes! This!

OMG, this brings back memories. Now that there's tablets and such, you can read whatever you want, whenever you want, and nobody's the wiser, but I remember reading books like this this, clutched to my lap so nobody could see the cover, then going full-on Cassandra when anyone asked me what I was reading, "Nothing! Nothing! I'm not reading anything. Oh, this? Just a silly novel. What's it about? I don't know. Just started. (Nervous laughter). So, uh, let's talk about something else. Anything else."

I hope I haven't horribly dated myself here...

(Suspect I did...)

Pretty much lol

And let's face it Varric goes better with Cass then Inquisitor. Cass likes poetry,Varric writes it! She wants something special and romantic something like story, Varric treats everything as story! Perfect couple and it would be hilarious,as long as it's done right at least.

Hey there, I write the "Hard Being a Gentleman" fic and I have to say it's totally awesome to see you are discussing it from time to time. I truly am grateful for those of you who took the time to read it, and for all the comments, both good and bad. Most of the time, people will only review if they think it's good, so it was a nice change of pace reading what people thought was bad (how are you going to get better if people just stop reading and won't tell you why they did?)

I probably should've gotten a beta, but that actually requires one to have friends who also like to write... :lol:

Thank you! :)

I always wondered if you had an account on the forums or not lol. You definitely get major props in my book for asking for criticism. Throughout the years I have seen so many authors on there get so defensive when they don't get a response they want. Some go as far as to stop writing the story all together (I know there are other real life reasons or creative reasons but this is about the egocentric authors). Anyway I was going to go on some long tangent but I was rambling too much so I won't include that in this post. All in all I'm a big fan & I'm looking forward to the next email notification on my phone letting me know there is a new chapter (as long as it isn't an email from my boss I'm usually happy lol).

Hey, glad you like it. When I started there were hardly any Varric and Cassandra fics! but now there's like a million of them so I figure I better up my game. :lol:

And when I first did fanfic years ago, negative criticism really bothered me, but I suppose I'm older now, so I can take the negative stuff not so personally.

If I was really sensitive, I probably would have exploded after the last Chapter. I got a few nasty-grams. Not that I think I was wrong per se, from a historical perspective, but I definitely would've thought twice about including such a hot button issue if I thought about it earlier...whoops.

But I'll try to keep me coming at a rate of once or twice per week if someone likes them. :)

Thank you so much for sharing the link :)! I think it's well written. Definitely NSFW (but I read it on my smartphone, so my boss won't know, hehe :D ). And obviously I have to refine my search words, I didn't know it yet and I was reall ylooking for fanfics ;).

The funniest thing about this Is that this isn't a caricature. Romance novel covers actually looked like this in the mid-90s...

You are sooooo right about that! :D

Oh, I enjoy reading your fic and also Chapter 7 was well done in my eyes. I can imagine some people getting upset about all kind of ish (and I'll just leave it at that). I am really really glad you didn't give up, I am curious where you are going to take them :).

I didn't think anything was controversial in chapter 7 at all but then again I do have quite the open mind. There was a fanfic that was really popular a while back that centered around a really controversial topic (pedophilia) and it really got alot of hate but since it was such a touchy topic more people read it. I'll admit even I was a tad uncomfortable reading the first three chapters but overlooked it afterwards since it was so well written. All in all it takes alot to offend me when it comes to fiction at least & since no one brought it up on the threas I'm assuming it was either overlooked or they didn't think it was all that important.

So, by way of bumping this thread, I thought I might post some of the better multi-chapter fanfics out there now on AO3 about V/C:

1) Rest in the Warmest Places: http://archiveofouro...hapters/6919628

It's set after the game, and there's an original plot (yay!), with Cassandra tracking down some of the Promisers. It's in progress, but is being updated regularly. A lot of the story is told via letters to and from the main characters, which I think is an unusual (albeit awesome) conceit you don't see much of anymore.

2). Her Love of the Written Word: http://archiveofouro...hapters/6923945

This is actually the most reviewed/most hit V/C piece in AO3. A very long, fluffy, well-written piece about how Varric and Cassandra develop their relationship. Surprisingly, I don't really love it, but I think my tastes are a bit different than most-I like there to be a plot and some angst, but none of that is really here. I also find Cassandra a bit OOC, but again, I think the majority of the reviewers feel differently. If you want a piece where you can say "Awwwww," at the end, this is that (so far, anyway.)

People get touchy about an actual well written story but are OK with all the awfull "AU High school" dribbles that makes most of fanfictions, bogles the mind really :blink: :P .

Anyway, kudos for your story, it is nicely done.
