depends... i'm a terrible slow worker, i always pay attention to every little detail on my artworks, but i did this one in 4h maybe. could be quicker if i wasn't chatting with my friends ;p

I think in cases like this the end result is all that matters & judging from what you showed us so far I'm standing by this statement. Your artwork is AMAZING and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Question: after the argument, Cassandra talks about Hawke. If Hawke sides with the mages, she says Hawke would probably have not agreed to even join the Inquisition and that Hawke would never have trusted her. What does she say if Hawke sided with the templars? I couldn't find this on youtube.

I don't know why she couldn't get pregnant. Whatever age you think Cass is, absent extenuating medical circumstances, she should still be able to. She's not that old. And Gaider confirmed a long time ago that half humans/half dwarves are definitely possible, just subject to that fact that dwarves in general have low fertility--which is speculated to be due to their proximity to darkspawn--which would not be an issue for Varric since he's been on the surface. And this is probably a lot more thought than anyone should put into this...

@goodgirl Its starting to become a requirement for couples in DA:I. Well the good thing is that at least they didn't break anything, this time.

At first, I thought "ooooh nooooo! poor XYZ", now it's just hilarious. Whenever Cullen's office or the battlements are mentioned, I am waiting for a messenger to pop up .

 

We're just shipping the pairing but saying/demanding that it be made canon. Besides from past experiences with some of the regulars in that thread I would prefer not bringing any of this up in that thread. They'll go all "grrrr" & "arrrr" at you.

Good thing that I have important things to do . Like looking if there are any updates *g*. I like this small thread with nice people and a lovely pairing .

 

Morie, your artworks are awesome! Don't let anybody ever tell you it's not because you need some time to make it perfect. I love all the details and I appreciate the work you put into your drawings!

No problem. And interestingly enough, half-dwarves appear as just that: half dwarves--somewhere in the middle of human/dwarven characteristics. Half-elves on the other hand, always appear human.

I'm getting all this info from an old thread from Origins in which Gaider posted all this stuff. I'm on a tablet now, but I'll try to find the link when I get home and post it here if you're interested.

In regards to the low fertility of the dwarves. I had no idea that it was related to them being in close proximity to the darkspawn. I wonder what that means for a dwarf that is also a grey warden? I always assumed that Cassandra was 39 & Varric was 40. Bioware definitely is vague when it comes to the characters ages but I can see why, sort of. Imagine Cassandra going thru pregnancy. Dear Maker that sounds kind of scary but very funny to watch/read.

I can see a half dwarf being sent up to the surface almost immediately but then again I don't know much about dwarven lore so I could be wrong. If Cassandra got pregnant it would literally be a miracle baby blessed by the maker himself, at least that is what Cassandra would say.

From what I understand of what I've read in the past, the chances could vary anywhere from extremely unlikely to pretty good.

But regardless, and not to get too sappy on you, but most mothers think their children are miracles. At least until they're old enough to start talking back.

ETA: I guess what I'm saying is for head canon/fanfic purposes, you could really go either way with it and I think, be on pretty safe ground.

It's in the second paragraph, and as its cite it references the book World of Thedas, which I don't have. So I don't know what that means for surface dwarves....are they immune to these effects, or have they been passed down in their genes, so while surface dwarves won't get any worse, their baseline is pretty bad?

Did you ever see the Farscape finale/conclusion movie?  Aeryn Sun (aka Morrigan!) is pregnant and goes into labour while they're fighting off baddies.  I don't remember most of the story but I vividly remember that bit of badassery.  I expect Cassandra would be much the same.

 

Maker help that child when he/she got to be a teenager and tried to rebel and get into mischief though!

I just realized I haven't read this fic at all yet. This will be added to the list of things to check out. At least it is on fanfiction so I'll find it on my own if I forget.

The only thing I dont like about these fan fictions is sometimes I forget what happened last time by the time the new update is posted. Thankfully, most of them aren't very plot heavy and I'm a quick reader, but
I really should wait until after they're complete...

But then I guess that would take half the fun out of it.

This reminds me on a author I keep up with on fanfiction (I don't keep up with many) and this author will only post stories when they are completely done. So imagine my surprise when I check my email to see 40+ notifications from fanfiction. I really need to read A seeker and her rouge soon. Maybe I'll move up on the list of fics to read this weekend.

So imagine my surprise when I check my email to see 40+ notifications from fanfiction. I really need to read A seeker and her rouge soon. Maybe I'll move up on the list of fics to read this weekend.

Yeah, no doubt that's the way it should probably be done, to be done as well as possible, but I don't blame people for posting them piecemeal as they get a chapter done. I'd probably need the reader comments to keep going when the word count gets into the 5 and 6 digits.

I mean, writing that much is WORK, and writing that much without any praise or encouragement? Mad props.

And the author must've read this thread or something, because she provides a calendar and then says something to the effect that one shouldn't tie oneself into knots over the dates, they're there for reference. I was kinda hoping for an unreliable narrator type reveal that's like "WHOA! I never saw that coming!" but I guess the kibosh was put on that kind of outlandish speculation. Rats.

As an avid fanfiction reader, this would be my preferred way to read it. Nothing worse then following a story, only to have the author say she/he is taking an haitus or just flat out abandoning it without saying anything On the other hand, I can see where posting one chapter at time is easier for the author. I haven't written in years (and only then for myself), but since DA:I, I've got a bug up my butt to write a story. Unfortunately I am stuck on the opening sentence and I'm sitting here going durr. So I have mad respect for people who write fanfiction or otherwise.

 

And last but not least...I ADORE Cass/Varric!! Keep the fanfics coming peeps, I need my addiction fed!
