Don't expect reading the thing to satiate your curiosity! The author continually hints at some "event" between Varric and Cass. Initially, you were like, ok, must be some UST and flirting. Then. It was like, Hmm...must've had sex. Now we're at the point where I'm like WHAT??? Did they have a demon baby? A threesome with Hawke? What? What?

Then again, I have the patience of a gnat with ADHD....so YMMV.

But seriously, it has an interesting, unique plot so its worth a read if you have free time.

The main reason I'm interested in reading it was when everyone was discussing what was going on. Everyone made it seem like a lot of stuff was going on. I enjoyed what I read so far but now I'm at least 3 chapters behind. Like I said when I'm finally done with work today I'll catch up to everyone so I'm up to date with everyone.

I thought of it in DA:II when they were about to kill each other. It's actually pretty adorable in my opinion.

I found this one today:

A Peace Offering

I'm only on chapter 3. The chapters are quick, but its a nice, good read. (Good enough, in fact, that it may very well have been mentioned in this thread before and I somehow missed it. lol But tada! anyway.)

Welcome aboard, then. :)

So, it's like Fanfiction Sunday and since I'm up sick, I figured I'd post some of the new stuff:

1. By LumenIzampel, the continuation of the fic she posted the first chapter of here: http://archiveofouro...hapters/7371500

Read it, you can cut the angst with a knife. Hoping for a happy ending though.

2. More ghost fic
http://archiveofouro...hapters/7082744

The latest chapter has Demi, I mean, Cass, lying low, but there's some Morrigan/Vivienne snarkery and who wouldn't love that?

3. More rest in the warmest places
http://archiveofouro...hapters/6919628

(We've now reached the stage where I expect; nay, demand a massive, shocking reveal. :) )

And there's a bunch of new fics and ficklets other there too that may be worth your time, these are just the ones I read that I think are worth a perusal.

Oh my, thank you for linking my fic! I was working on college things so I wasn't able to, plus I'm kind of afraid you guys will seriously kill me after I followed up angst with more angst. uwu;;; But I'm seriously submitting the thing for creative writing class so... yeah.

I haven't caught up with Rest in the Warmest Places and all of you are going around screaming "OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENS NEXT" and now I want to catch up with it. Oh my. The first time, I found all the details rather overwhelming so maybe it's worth another read.

Oh, I love angst. It's all cool. And I like the idea that Cass gets to replay the scene again and again until (hopefully) Varric doesn't die. And I have tremendous respect to you for your writing. Isn't English your second language (or am I thinking of another poster?) Good luck in your creative writing class. Anyone who does that gets mad props from me. My idea of creative writing would be writing a story in which I had toast for breakfast (but in reality, I hate toast, so...creative, right?). I don't know where people get all their ideas from but it's great! Keep your story going.

lol.. wtf.. I go away for a month or so and this thread is still kicking.

Is shipping really that important to people? I mean, it's funny for a... second.. but I'd think people would just play the games and like the characters as they are.

"For life"? You're that enthusiastic about it?

I guess if that works for you.

I get enthusiastic about what's in the game.. not some outside concept. Same goes for anything really. If I like the show LOST, I get into the actual show LOST. Not some internet shipping discussion about threeways with Sawyer, Kate, and Jack. The show already had enough to entertain me. As does DAI.

I'm honestly grateful you've been away for a whole month and one of your first stops is to educate me in the error of my ways. I didn't know there were ways we were, and were not, allowed to enjoy games.

If I have any more questions about how to properly enjoy games, where would be the best place to reach you?

Thanks again!

Why do you think I'm here to educate you? I don't care if you take anything from what I say. That's the last thing I expect actually. I expect conflict, unfortunately. I can count on one hand that I have ever actually changed anyone's mind here. lol. I'm a realist.

I have opinions.. and as far as I know, it's an open discussion to air them. That is all. And I just find it strange that the discussion is still going. This section of the forum is generally devoted to the game and the actual characters. Not fan fiction.

Yup, I'm that enthusiastic about it kwaii desu. And it's not entirely an outside concept, it has it's own banter. But meh, this is now a thread with its own little clique of regular posters, and it's The sanest thread in the 'story campaign and character thread.' which is why I post here a lot. Cass thread is probably the second sanest, when there is no bar bi-fights.

You don't get the shipping thats cool, but all the regular posters here do. And we are all secretly plotting to take cassandra away from Inky mwhahaha. kidding

I'm genuinely not being funny, but I have to ask: why would you post in a thread that holds no interest for you?  I don't post on threads about...I dunno, theories about Sera being an elven goddess, or the optimal skill rotation for a necromancer, because I don't really care or have anything to add.  Some people like blue and other people like red.  What is the benefit of going to the people who like red and saying, "Why do you like red?  That's weird."

Nobody here seems to be under any illusions that Cass and Varric are going to get together and live happily ever after with a dozen half-dwarf babies in the canon, and nobody that I've seen has been rampaging around the forum or the fandom (what little of it I've seen) pressing for this to be so.  At its simplest, people are saying "I like the dynamic between these two characters".  Other people don't, and that's fine, too.  I fail to see what harm is done, or anything particularly bizarre, in someone expressing an enjoyment of their relationship in whatever context.

Uh, just a few days away and so much to keep up with :).

1) Mince Pie are awesome :P

2) I'd write anything, any time for sticky toffee pudding

Never tried sticky toffee pudding, but I am pretty sure I could do it. Guys, you make me try new stuff and I like it!

Actually, they don't make mince pies with meat anymore, to my knowledge. Wikipedia says they stopped the meat around
Victorian times?

It's just mostly the fruit and spices now. I guess I'd like to try one with the meat once though just out of curiosity to see what they tasted like.

I honestly don't know, the recipes with meat were the first that came up. I figure we just might be a tiny bit OT ;), but then again I bet both mince pies and sticky toffee pudding are a staple in Thedas :D.

She could just keep it strapped to her back, like the cheese wheel!

 Can't forget the cheese wheel!

So, it's like Fanfiction Sunday and since I'm up sick, I figured I'd post some of the new stuff:

Oh yeah, please give them a happy ending! Pretty please? I already teared up when I read the 2nd chapter, just let me know before you kill one of them off in the finale, so I don't read it *overly dramatic gesture*. Or give them a different (and happy ;) ) ending for the fan fiction and another one for your class :)?

Arrgh the author of rest in the warmest places is toying with us..

Definitely! Here's the new chapter: http://archiveofouro...hapters/7493993

Spoiler

And an update for It's Hard Being A Gentleman :) : https://www.fanficti...ing-A-Gentleman

Spoiler

ETA: I just noticed that I missed an N in mince pies. Oops *lol*. Not that desperate yet.

Yes this pair has a little following, and why not. Stranger things have happen on this forum (the 3+ millions of view of the Cullen thread still boggles my mind  ).

Why do I like reading about this pairing (I am the first surprised I follow this  :P ) I don't know and I don't care, it's nice to check the thread and the stories linked here from time to time because the people here are rather polite and literate wich makes this thread really pleasurable to come back to and the stories are mostly well written.

Wait, what? That was totally the only reason I visited this thread. I've also got all 12 baby names picked out already.

So, uh,the rest of you totally weren'ton board with that?

Damn, time to pick out a new fandom.

My thoughts exactly :). It find it quite surprising that the overall quality of the Tethraghast stories is pretty good. I read some of the Cullen/Inq ones and a lot are just... ugh *disgusted noise*. Not because I don't like the way the relationship is described but they are just not well written. On the other hand, everybody learns by practice and I really admire everyone who's spending so much time and effort on writing fiction which will not be paid for. So, to all authors out there: Thank you! :)

As soon as I figure out how to write a PM, I'll be happy to get a trusted recipe! :)

This.

(Though if they did pull a Garrus/Tali on us and become canon, I personally wouldn't consider it *completely* out of left field. It'd require more than what we've got now, but what we have now as far as interaction doesn't make the possibility impossible, IMO.)

Thank you for the thread bumps, though, Streetmagic. :)
