Please tell me more of this shakarian fic (my favorite ME couple) :P

Basically an AU start to the series. What if Shepard had been the first C-Sec officer instead of/before/maybe alongside Harkin? Specifically a Shep with the War Hero background, since the Hero of Elysium was well known publically and apparently Elysium was not just attended by humans, but also a favored spot of turians and others. So, it gives her and the alliance cred and lets them put her up as an option. This would be like right after the Skyllian Blitz ends, so several years before the game started. And of course she will meet our favorite turian in her new position. Things proceed from there. ;)

To keep this on topic (its my thread, I have to), my Cassaric fic idea involves Bianca's husband coming to Skyhold with like a merchant retinue or something and maybe Varric meets the guy, not realizing who he is at first cus they stay on a first name basis (and its not like Varric has ever gotten enough of a look at "whats his name" to know him on sight after years of not seeing the guy), and they end up in the Herald's Rest hanging out and they're friendly. And then the shoe drops as it clicks for Varric who the guy is. And the guy realizes who he is. And tensions ensue afterward. But Mr. Davri isn't a terrible guy in my premise. Also, I am considering Bianca being on good terms with her husband (basically, he was forced into the marriage too and they've kinda had a truce/understanding/friendship, which is why Bianca is able to go off where she pleases, when she pleases, as long as its not too long or too often, cus then he couldn't handwave it to his family/clan as easily). Thought it'd be interesting to see how Varric deals with being faced with/knowing/half liking Bianca's husband. There would of course be Cassaric involved in this, too. And at least one dragon.

I don't believe there's any canon that says Bianca's husband is a jerk, right? Don't want to have a faulty foundation. lol

Both of those sounds pretty awesome. So, could I talk you into posting both fics when they are written?  :D

Hey there, long time no see, real life is a bit crazy these days. Glad to see we are still in business. Thank you all the links, now I have plenty of reading to do :D

Hey all, for what it's worth I reposted my fic and though updates might come slower I'll try to finish it.

Sorry for being a jerk in the first place; I just had a bad two weeks. I applied for a grad program and heard back that I was rejected (when I really, really thought I'd be accepted) and basically had a nervous breakdown. But I'm trying to pick the pieces up, and I did enjoy writing.

Thanks for all your support and being great cheerleaders. Though since I posted the ending, does that mean I need to change it to get you to continue to read? Hmmm...lol.

Yay :wizard: !!!! Take your time, we are not going anywhere.

Also, sorry for your application being rejected, you have all my sympathies, I got turned down for a new job that I was really excited about and I thought was tailor-made for me, so I can relate.

Don't question yourself too much, as Goodgirl said (and for my personal experience as a recruiter in my job) sometimes it takes only a small thing between two candidates..

Yeah, this one is wonderful, isn't it? It's so funny and the imagination of

Spoiler

I like Shakespeare, not so much the poetry but the plays. I had to dig through Macbeth for my advanced English course and I was loving it. In case you know Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett, you can imagine how much I enjoyed this book. I am really sad that his death was announced today :(.

I really like it now. But I think it'll be a better read once it's finished and you don't have to wait between chapters :).

Spoiler

Lol!

Sir Terry Pratchett death, now that was a bummer (to say the least), we just lost one of the funniest, most clever author of our time and knowing that I won't be able to read a new Discworld novel... well ****! as Varric would put it :crying:

And to stay on topic, I have half an idea for a song about Varric and Cassandra (or maybe a short story) after re-reading some of the post here, at one point some of us were wandering about who between Varric and Cassandra might have realized first that they were in love.

I am trying to find the right angle to do this (love song are not my forte, I generally do funny ones or pissed off ones). Might take some times to get it right, I am rather über critical with myself. (at worst I will revert to the old "8 X 3" rule of  songwriting that my band and I used to follow when I was younger : 8 minutes for the lyrics, 8 minutes for the music and 8 beer per person :P )

I've never played ME, so no comment on that (only owned a PS3, and ME was a PC/XBOX exclusive). Re: Varric meeting Bianca's husband...sounds interesting, anyway. Definitely something no one has done before. I don't *think* it was ever mentioned that he was a jerk.

Hope you decide to do it and post it and real life doesn't get in the way.

I'm so happy I found this thread! <3 Why is finding fanfic etc for this pairing so hard?? Anyways, I love these two, especially their clearly unresolved sexual tension. The first ones to make me break out from my Sapphic tastes since Alistair and Morrigan. :P

Good to read you again, Olwaye! :) I still get all teary-eyed when I think about never again getting a new Discworld novel :( . This really means a big loss for me.

Welcome to our little thread, FadelessRipley! You'll find it a nice place for great and laid back people :)

Anyway, my PC is acting up, so I am finally forced to use the new one (I actually wanted to finish a handful of games first on my old one because I rather have lags than setting the mods up like they were *sighs*). Oh the fun of transferring data and setting up everything like I am used to . And I really detest typing on my mobile, so I'll be back in a few :)..

I actually ship them in my head.  It's the truth.  There's a lot of Old Hollywood Movie chemistry with them.  Like Gable and Colbert...

Oh man...the classic Hollywood thing has just made me think of 'Bringing Up Baby' (my favorite old-timey movie), only Varric would obviously be Katharine Hepburn and Cass would be Cary Grant! And Baby would probably be...hmm, a wyvern? A giant nug? What is the Thedosian equivalent of a leopard?

I love Bringing Up Baby too, but you'll have to explain the Varric/Cassandra parallels to me. I always thought Hepburn was a zany airhead in that movie and Grant played a smart, amusing, albeit passive role.

Well it was really just that Varric is more the teasing, funny guy in the relationship whereas Cass is more the deadpan 'straight man' (in the comedy sense) - at least, I can't picture her acting like Hepburn's character at all. It's not really the best analogy, I guess, because Varric isn't all that impulsive or active, either. Sorry, dumb idea.

It wasn't dumb, I just didn't get exactly where you were going, that's all. :). And I love that movie so thinking about it isn't a bad thing. It's been a while since I watched it though. My favorite part is when they're all eating dinner and Cary Grant's character constantly gets up to follow the dog. For some reason that always struck me as hilarious. Sorry, O/T.

Anyway, I know I usually post the fanfic stuff, but not much here recently. Some newish stuff on AO3, most of it readable, but nothing I loved loved, and no updates on the stories many of us were reading (at least that I saw.)

I'm ready for some DLC for the game. Love anything with Cass and/or Varric featuring prominently. Would be awesome if we went to Nevarra (sounds like they were having some problems there in game). I know Cassandra claims she hates it, but I imagine she would have to come along to help sort out any crisis, and hopefully, we can learn more about her and her family while we're there.

Any kind of new dwarven stuff would be awesome as well...Kal Sharok, Orzammar, surface dwarf stuff...don't care. Would give them all the money they wanted if there was an option for Bianca (the dwarf, not the crossbow) to meet an untimely end. Please, Bioware, please. I mean, Branka offed about 200 people (some of them admittedly horribly) to get her hands on the technology to make golems which could literally save the dwarven race by turning the tide of the darkspawn threat. And the game prompts us to look at her as a horrible person and practically telegraphs that it's the "Good Thing" to kill her and throw the Anvil of the Void into the lava pit.

Bianca, on the other hand, contributes to the deaths of untold numbers of people. She just let the Vints and Corpheus get their hands on untold amounts of red lyrium, which kills/corrupts everyone it touches, but it's ok, because she's cute, and perky, and it's not her fault she has the common sense of a not-particularly-intelligent gnat, and look! perky and cute! She's even so cute she's allowed to threaten us for no particular reason and we are supposed to laugh it off, because haha! making threats just means she loves Varric sooooo much. Hilarious!

So Branka: killing 200 people to potentially save an entire race=horrible person. Bianca: killing untold numbers of people because she wants to "help" just study red lyrium = shame shame, don't do that again! ::wags finger::

(Could continue in a similar vein for a lot longer, but sadly, this rant is already growing incoherent...)

TLDR, Please, please, just let us kill Bianca.

Knowing my luck, any new DLC will probably feature Solas or Cullen....

I loved this entire post, thank you. You've summed up how I feel about Bianca completely. I don't hate characters very often, I dislike, but I rarely hate. Well, Bianca, darling, I HATE you. So I endorse the whole kill Bianca thing, and if I can't kill, what about bodily torture? I'm cool with that  B)  :P .

I know, right? She's like a badly written Mary Sue.

For some reason, she reminds me a lot of the heroine from Middlemarch (weird comparison I know, but bear with me.) It's like, "Ok, I get it, you married the wrong dude, but that doesn't give you a "get out of jail free" card for all your obnoxious behavior, and no, it's not cool, and it doesn't make me pity you.

(Must control further Bianca rant...)

I think that's actually part of the reason why I ship Cass and Varric so hard. I was never one of those people who really wanted to romance Varric with my PC, so that's not the reason I hated her. Initially, I was like, "Oh, cool, we get to find out about Bianca!" And by the end of the quest, I was "throw my controller across the room" angry.

Varric and Cass would be the best, but literally anything else would be better than Bianca....a nug fetish...Sophia Dryden's disembodied head...anything. :P

She's not worthy of his celibacy and crossbow.

I even prefer Branka because she owns her bish-ness.

Funny thing, I don't hate Bianca, she is feisty, the right amount of sleazy, clever and apparently very skilled in marksmanship and craftmanship, I can see why her and Varric go together like a house on fire (literally, down to people running around screaming and furnitures being destroyed). They must have been a crazy duo in their younger day.

I just don't see why Varric cling to their relationship, she seems to have get the better part of the deal. He should have walk away a long time ago.

Then again this tend to proves that Varric might be a tiny (no pun intended) bit of a romantic, which in turn makes him a perfect match for Cassandra :P

I'll admit my passionate hate for Bianca is rooted in my love(well as much as you can love a fictional character) of Varric. I wanted to romance him with Hawke, when DA2 came out. I couldn't. So I was hoping to romance him in DA:I, I couldn't there either. So when Bianca came into the picture, I was just like, that's why I can't romance him? So yeah, maybe my hate for her is a bit irrational, maybe :P  Honestly I've given up all hope of a romanceable Varric and given myself totally over to Cass/Varric. I will go down with this ship  :P

I guess a lot of people feels this way, Bianca kind of feels wedged(like a salesman foot in your door)  into the story to stop the ramblings about Varric not being romanceable.

As for the ship, well, she's a beauty, I would carry on playing as she sinks ;)

Yeah, same.  I won't say I love Bianca but I don't hate her.  Mostly I think she's in a crummy situation too - it's pretty clear she didn't really want to get married, either - and she's just not really handling the situation any better than Varric is.  They both keep in touch even when it's kind of not a good idea.  So I'd like to see him move on, and hopefully she can too, either with her husband or on her own, and find some kind of peace.

I don't hate Bianca. Yet,anyway. lol I've actually not completed Varric's quest with her for myself, yet. So, I'm reserving judgment.

She honestly seems like a more aggressive version of Daisy from Great Gatsby to me, if anything. Who I admittedly hate with a passion, but who knows if that'll hold when I'm done the quest?

Found a new fanart! Spoiler'd for size.

Spoiler

I can easily see them actually getting those shirts. Especially Cassandra's.
