I have nothing regarding a cute name for the pairing, and I even thought about it for a few minutes, but the names don't really go together. But barring that, I thought, I'd post a link to this:
http://archiveofouro...c Tethras/works
Which are the Varric/Cassandra fanfics I found at the "archive of our own" site. I can't personally recommend all of them, but I think they're mostly all worth a perusal to see if they strike your fancy. I thought some of glitteringworld's one shots were especially cute and fluffy (if you're in to that kind of thing.)
Ok the first one on that list (havn't read all of them) was absolutely brilliant. Makes me love that banter with Dorian even more. Thank you so much for linking those! I tried to look up Cassaric fics on there myself, but my search turned up nothing. Clearly I don't know how to navigate that site. lol

Reminds me of Casserole.

I despise that name.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on the name, but I have to defend the casserole. Firstly, I agree stuffed pies are great. But making pie crust is an enormous PITA, and sometimes casseroles easier, quicker, and quite tasty. I mean, Shepard's Pie is technically a casserole. So is lasagna. Both delicious.

Others though, I want to leave a comment like, "There might be a decent story under here, but please, for the love of all that is holy, review your grammar, especially as it relates to the use of quotation marks. My eyes are bleeding."
But...I notice most people only leave nice comments. So I figure the rule is if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. But then again, a lot of these people are begging for feedback, so....I dunno. Plus, if they honestly don't know they're making a mistake, how will they correct it?
Or sometimes I'll read a really great story, when all of a sudden, there's a jarring piece of characterization, and I want to say, "Hey, do you realize 'X' is coming across like this?"
Is there a rule here? I'm asking because I often don't have a good feel IRL for that fine line between being honest and being a jerk.

So...kind of a related question here, but not exactly 100% on topic, but indulge me. So, I'm going through these fanfics, and some are pretty nice for what they are. So I might leave a nice little comment.

There's a manner of saying critique without being offensive. But the golden rule for good critique (for me) is not highlighting the flaws without explanation. Like saying "omg this sucks your writing is bad and blah blah". if you think something is wrong, say that you think it's wrong, then say why you think so. A nice way of critiquing is also pointing out the stuff you like, then saying what else do you think needs to be changed.
Yes, I do admit, a lot of those works has some stuff I don't agree to. It's Hard being a Gentleman, for one... well, I feel like Cole's speech was a bit off, since he talks a lot more normally than I'd think, but his character in it and his concern was still rather spot-on to me, and that does sound like something that he'd do.
And the occasional grammar, too, but I've grown to not give a **** about grammar, to be honest. A lot of fanfiction writers don't have beta readers, so usually I don't really look at it much. ;; Not all people are native English speakers, after all.

Yes, I get you. I'm not a grammar stickler either. I mean, I'm not going to rebuke someone on lie vs. lay, or other things like that, where it can be easy to make a mistake. However, for example, there was one fic posted in this thread that I refused to read because the use of quotation marks (and associated punctuation in the fic) was just so bizarre and distracting. Worth even bothering to mention something like that? Or if someone is that bad, do we just assume they don't care?
The Cole thing you bring up is interesting. So in that case, would you bother to write a review and say, "Hey, I think Cole's speech patterns are off here, might want to take a look at that, but everything else (his motives and actions) seem spot-on?"
Sorry for the stupid questions. I think I have a touch of Asperger's IRL so before navigating unfamiliar interactions with people, I always like to have a read on what is socially acceptable and constructive vs. socially unacceptable and jerkish.

Lol. I think imagining that will make Cassandra romancers want to rip out all that thick, silky chest hair.
Her own sarcastic quip about dragging him to see the Divine because "I thought she needed to see the chesthair for herself" does make me think that she might have stolen a couple glances in it's direction...
Methinks if a desire demon ever showed up, she'd quote the similarly named Cassandra in Doctor Who, who brilliantly mocked Rose's barely contained squee at the prospect of travelling around with the newly-regenerated Tenth Doctor;
"Ooh, he's slim... and a little bit foxy. You thought so too; I've been inside your head. You've been looking. You like it!"

Here's the only response to this:
I joined the BSN because of Mass Effect and having not played Origins; for the longest time I didn't understand that meme. When I finally did get around to giving DA:O a whirl I couldn't stop laughing every time I talked to Sten. Oh... Now I get it.

The real question here, is who has NOT stolen a few glances in the chest hair's direction? I don't care what your orientation is, check your pulse if you haven't.Her own sarcastic quip about dragging him to see the Divine because "I thought she needed to see the chesthair for herself" does make me think that she might have stolen a couple glances in it's direction...

I'll support this ship. If only because being on BSN means supporting things that literally nothing supports, and everything contradicts.
Thank you for your support! We'll take it.
I feel like I'm on a PBS telethon (do they still have those anymore?)
"We've got another person calling in, folks, who supports this wonderful ship. All we need is a few more people. And if you call RIGHT NOW we have a wonderful tote bag as your free gift! Just call now, at 923-1234!"

Cole's speech is a bit off but I guess I ignored it. Trying to keep Cole in character is difficult so I can let it slide. In regards to telling an author about misteaks & errors in their work I say send them a PM if you are worried or just simply try to soften the blow, say something nice, critique a mistake & finish up with another comment. If they get upset then quite frankly they shouldn't post the story online.
Yeah, I didn't really put too much attention to Cole in that chapter, 'cause I've only seen one writer so far get it really well and his thought process and speech is really hard to get right (trust me, I tried. It didn't go well). No point being too much of a perfectionist. So many wooords.

I'm not the only one who has thought of that? Oh my goodness, yes.
And the real reason for dragging Varric along to the Divine actually sounded... odd. Cassandra not doing something practical? Surprising!
Unless Justinia actually planned this and just wanted them to get along after the interrogation so she asked Cassandra to bring him along. Hmmm...
I feel that this is very related to the topic, lol.
... am I the only one who started considering this two right after this scene? They were so adorable here. Especially Cassandra. ouo;;

No, no, you're not the only one. This is the scene where they make up after their squabble. So they're not really on bad terms, to everyone who keeps insisting so!
Edit: Also, I agree. So she is admitting that she wanted Varric to help the Inquisition. What makes him so special that she wants him on their side, even when she believed he was telling the truth about Hawke?
I'm trying not to dig deep... but as I do, I find more nuggets to support this ship. ![]()

Alternatively, Cassandra kept him around to make sure that he wrote another chapter of Swords and Shields. Given how she often tries to kick his arse, stabbed a knife near his crotch and is a fan of his books... yeah, how is this not the plot of Misery, again?

New chapter of its hard to be a gentleman is up. I haven't read it yet but I assume that Cassandra will be getting the latest book of the series Swords & Shields. It will be interesting to see what twist will be put on the scene.
Thanks!

Just do it in a class like art or literature, and not in a hard class like calculus or organic chemistry.
Not that I know this from actual experience or anything...

Lol I'm in a fantasy/science fiction writing class, so I should be able to still learn something from the reading! ![]()
