I really have very little constructive advice, but wow! 30,000 words is a lot. Do you have carpal tunnel now, I'm totally in awe. I think I only hit 25k once, for my senior thesis (and I made LIBERAL use of quotations

Just speaking for myself, and being totally selfish, post it somewhere like fanfiction or AO3 so I can read it. Maybe I'm just old, but I've never gotten into tumblr and I find the format kind of irritating (could just be something you have to get used to.)

Of course, I wouldn't mind if you excerpted the Varric/Cass bits and posted them here (assuming the scenes meet the site's rating.)

 

 

If the fanfic is more or less a retelling of the main storyline I say excerpts but if you changed things up then I personally have no problem reading a 30k word fic.

 

 

It should meet the rating here, there is nothing explicit, just some mild swearing.  I'll see how I go, my confidence is...not great.  I can always PM people maybe, I don't know.

People are pretty nice. Sure, there are horse's posteriors here and there (and occasionally people who don't intend to be rude but lack the social skills and self-awareness to be otherwise) but honestly....99% of people who read fanfic, especially long ones like yours, are just in awe that anyone who isn't a professional can accomplish that.

Look, did you read the little ficlet I posted in this thread the other day? Did you think I was the second coming of O. Henry? Good, I didn't either. . You know what, though? Everyone was nice, and if they thought it was stupid, they kept it to themselves. People really are nice and understanding, especially in a supportive community like this.

You beta'd it with someone you trust, right? I'm sure he or she would've told you if there was something really bad, right? You need to have the self-confidence to believe in yourself.

I'd love to read it . I ship Cullen/Fem Inquisitor as well as Tethraghast here, so double pleasure, I guess . If you don't want to worry about rating and such, maybe post it rather on Fanfiction or Archive of your Own. Just make sure you leave a link here!

 

@rda: I definitely agree with what you said about the so-called relationship of Varric and Bianca. No way most people would put up with sh.. like that over such a long time period. I don't think the authors did the character build (correct word?) of Varric a big favor with that. But it really just might be a cover up for the lack of programming of another potenial romance . Oh well, more artistic freedom for all of us!

When does Cass ask about Bianca? Is it party banter or is it something/somewhere specific to trigger it? Cus I don't think I've heard that and now I really really want to.

 

Yeah, as others have said, it's after his personal mission where you meet Bianca.

 

It's actually an adorable bit of banter because while he teases her about her love life and she gets annoyed, the next conversation between them has her actually answer his question openly and honestly, leading him to getting a little flustered because he really wasn't expecting her to share that kind of personal stuff with him.

Quick question for my fellow Tethraghast sailors: I've just about finished my fanfic and I think I'm going to be brave and post it somewhere instead of hiding it away on my hard drive to never see the light of day like Gollum and the ring.  But, it's a little over 30,000 words and the Cass/Varric bits are a subplot rather than the main story (mainly it's..well it was my Trevelyan/Cullen fic but it sort of turned into 'here is a verbal description of what happened when I played DA:I with some other headcanony bits thrown in.)  

 

So would people prefer me to just cut and paste the Cass/Varric excerpts (which won't run together like a full story as much but will be more relevant) or just link the whole thing?  (I will warn you, it is insufferably fluffy and sweet.  My beta reader really enjoyed the Cass/Varric bits though.)

 

Now I'm just trying to decide whether to post it on the forums, on tumblr or what, and whether to do it now or wait for the Cullen thread page 5000 celebration. :S

I legit just read that confession and went "EEEEEEEEEEE" in real life.  Good thing no one's home (although my husband already knows I'm loopy, so.)

Someone was talking about banners earlier and I was super duper bored today (was meant to go out, but snow happened) so I knocked up some rather crudely done banners in Photoshop.  If I can get some better screenshots of Cass I'll try again, her face is kind of >< compared to his but I didn't have any good shots of her somehow.

I really like the second one! I think it fits for their relationship. Varric looks like he's trying to charm her with that smirk, while Cassandra looks unsure, but is still curious about the situation.
