People like her, BioWare wanted to do more with her.

I'm glad we got more of her. I liked the various ways she could develop, and I thought her crisis of faith was very well written. And her romance references were really sweet, happy they threw those in there. <3

Rollo, I agree.

That is Rollo from Vikings right? In your pic?

Floki has got to be my favourite character on that show. But Rollo is a badas* as well.

Back on in March.  :D

Bioware didn't retcon anything,
If you think you killed her you simply thought wrong and it is YOU who is trying to bend the laws of logic and physics.

Leliana is a hot lesbian-

Hot lesbians don't die they just retire from porn.

Correction: Lelliana is a hot-bi-sexual butletsbehonestlyshewastottalymeanttopreferwoman

Leliana was alive in DA2 as well, working with Cassandra as one of the seekers trying to find Hawke. So it makes sense she is in DAI as well, working with the Inquisition.

For those that had Leliana killed off in DAO, did she explain that the Ashes somehow revived her?  Or is that headcanon from the community?

She acknowledged it,explaining that she was dead, but the maker ressurected her. She considers it a wonder. It ties very neatly into her story. Given the wonderous nature of the place, it's not entire unplausible.
Also, I ressurect my characters all the time, after they've been completely scorched by dragon fire. It takes 6 seconds and a health oot to get them fighting at full strength again.

Btw, what's Corys excuse?

I think Leiliana has the strongest case for being in the story, along with Cassandra. Her role as left hand was already established before DAI and is crucial for the plot.
Sure, you can change the story so it does not require her, but that is true for every charcter. Why does Cullen need to be there?

Oh, and please stop with the writer's pet argument if you have nothing else to say. It just makes you look stupid.

Statistically Leliana is actually the most chosen love interest in Origins. By some margin too, if I recall.

You wouldn't guess it from the very...vocal folks you see kicking around here sometimes, but I'm pretty sure the people who like dreaming up ways for her to die are a minority.

Talking about decisions that have effects two games later, let's talk about the Rachni Queen. If you saved her in ME1, you can rescue her and have her as a war asset in ME3. If you killed her, you find a mutant Rachni Queen and it's better if you kill her again. This is a classic example of a choice that has a real effect. In my opinion, I couldn't distinguish the effects of the main choices done in the previous games in DA:I.

Because as other user said she is writers pet followed by alistair there was no real reason to bring her back from dead (same can be said for many other character).

Pretty much writers force her onto us in majority of their products and she is followed by alistair.

To be honest i hope they are done with returning characters and no more cullen/leliana/alistair in another games or products.Same for morrigan but sadly she was turned into flemeth so i hope flemeth/solas plot will be finally resolved and morrigan and solas die and we never go back to that again so we can move on.

Hope the OP knows it isn't just Leliana. You see Anders among the dead, if you had it happen, in Awakening yet he shows back up in DA 2.

Leliana is fine. I have much less problem with her being brought back in a game where you constantly rez your party through every battle than I do with characters being brought back in a sci-fi franchise. Magic can still hand-wave a lot more than tech can. And I say that as someone who has no strong feelings about her either way. She died in a place of extremely strong, possibly even divine magic. These things happen in fantasy particularly if your faith is as strong as hers is. It is not at all uncommon in fantasy writing.

At least they didn't say "THE MAKER DID IT!" for him.

Bwahaha, agreed. Oh, ME3, how many of your fans were POed at almost everything. They did some really silly things there with substitution that was little more than copy/paste. Some of it I could buy without a fuss, but some of it like the Rachni queen was lulzy. I still enjoyed ME3 but it did have some serious flaws.

The Maker doesn't do it. if you bring Oghren with you he says there is very unusual amount of Lyrium inside that room. So the healing power of the ashes as well Leliana's survival can be tied to that. Not to mention Leliana dies in combat so its not as clear as murder knife, maybe she was lethally wounded and the ashes and the room in general prevented her death.

Because she is...

Im not sure why Liara always gets singled out for being a "writers pet" when Garrus & Tali were worse for it IMO

But seriously. For being a one-off character, Cullen got some pretty decent development over the past ten years. I liked it. Fangirls or no, Bioware did a great job with him. I think they did an equally good job of acknowledging Leliana's "death."

I think the difference is that Tali and Garrus could be killed off. You literally either have to have a low ems ending or refusal to kill Liara.
