When the mission ends, are you ported back to skyhold or are you still in the west?  

 

I'm trying to minimize all my back and forth to skyhold, and just unlocked everything on the west side of the map (like the choking mist areas) and heading back to do those, but it sucks if I have to go all the way back to skyhold to do Here lies the Abyss. So the idea is to do that first and hopefully I will still be over there and not ported back to skyhold.

I'm fairly certain you're ported back to Skyhold. Since the missions launched from there. You must have really long loading screens if this is an issue for you.

No, just trying to play realistic. I don't like the idea of these characters traveling weeks to get somewhere, then turning back to go to skyhold, then traveling weeks again to go to the western approach again. I've been trying to minimize that as much as possible.
