*Plot spoiler warning*
In Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts the Inquisitor can use five Halla Statues to uncover evidence that Celene knew that Gaspard was going to attack her at the ball, and that she had laid a trap, and planned to arrest him for treason as soon as he tried.

Question: Why is this evidence of Celene's entrapment of Gaspard considered leverage against Celene to force her into an alliance with Gaspard and Briala? Seems like it was just a good way to play the game, and Celene would in no way be embarrassed.

The better leverage would be confirmation of her relationship with Briala, but that fact can only be used to force Briala into the truce.

Edited for clarity.

YOu can find a necklace that Briala gave her when they were bumping tails.

Does that come up as leverage you can use against Celene? Seems like it is only used to get the Briala and Celene to reconcile.

There is a door requiring 5 halla statues (can't remember where it is) but inside, you will find leverage. There isn't enough halla statues to open every door. You can open every door going through the quest including the Celene Door but you won't be able to open either of the treasure rooms at the end of the quest.

You can't use the necklace to leverage Celene... It's basically brushed aside if you try to use it.

I didn't understand why entrapping Gaspard is considered "bad", either.... The only thing I can think of is the whole "getting caught" aspect would make Celene look bad within the confines of the Game, but if that were the case, you'd think the necklace would work then, too...

Maybe I just interpreted the alliance wrong? Maybe Celene is the one most open to the alliance, and the other two, Briala and Gaspard, are ones who need to be forced into it? Or maybe her entrapment of Gaspard would alienate her support among Gaspard's allies?

Yes, in fact, Celene's implied relationship to Briala and elves is what Gaspard uses to undermine her in the novel. Its surprising that the Inquisitor can't use that against her.

It's entrapment because by allowing this to happen, Florianne is able to strike. If it got out that she put the entire Empire at risk for the sake of her agenda, she's be considered incompetent at best.
