[Big I]

I'm on my second playthrough and just had the most bizarre encounter. Was wondering around Skyhold and went into the storage rooms just beyond the kitchens. At the end near the door that leads to the reading room with all the cobwebs and books in it, where there is usually a landscape portrait hanging between two dwarven statues, I came across an open vault door.

 

 

The vault floor is covered in piles of gold that are non-interactable. Standing in the vault is a male NPC, who's name I didn't see before speaking to him (it was "Lord" something). He challenges me to a "Quizquisition", and says there's a timer on the answers. He asks me what the largest city in Thedas is, and I have to choose from answers that include the common nug, the Fex, Gwaren and many others. I give him the correct answer (Minrathous), and he says he'll continue at a later time.

 

 

I have no idea how I triggered this. I have no idea what I get if I keep answering questions. I have, in fact, no idea what's going on, but it seems awesome.

Yeah it's an easter egg encounter thing. I found him in my first playthrough in the inquisitor's quarters in that small closet sized room next to the bed. Didn't find him again. If you find him multiple times I think he gives you a giant spoon weapon.

This. He appears at random locations around the Keep. You need to find him and answer three times correctly to get The Boon of the Spoon.

Ok, his name is Lord Trifles Minutae. You can answer his three questions by saving just outside the vault and and then loading. Answering his three questions correctly gets you "The Boon Of The Spoon", a unique level 16 two handed weapon shaped like a giant spoon or ladle. Talk about bizarre.

 

EDIT: Although I would have quite liked to answer all the questions.

OMG this guy made me laugh so hard. Absolutely died laughing when he gives you a spoon. All fear the Iron Bull as he charges into battle wielding a trusty spoon!

I'm yet to find this guy, and it bums me.

 

Maybe if I stop actively looking he'll turn up. That's how it usually works. :S

First time I ever encountered him was in the jail cells. Any time after was in the vault. Dude like hanging around all my gold   I'm pretty sure thats how he ended up in the jail cells (jus' sayin')

He can also appear on the top floor of the tavern next to the door leading out to the battlements, opposite corner from Cole.

I believe you can unlock the vault via the connections perks (something to do with traders connections I think)

You need the Connections 15% perk to open the vault (takes the 2 10% perks to get to that one) but the Quizinator does not need the vault to appear. I've found him overlooking the castle entry, by the stables, in the tavern and, in a jail cell as well as in the vault. He does prefer the vault, if it's open but, can be other places. Get 3 questions right and you get tthe spoon, miss one and it's over, no reward.

Lord Trifles Minutiae places of spawning:

 

- Vault (requires Elite Clientele perk)

- Inquisitor's quarter storage locker left of the bed (facing bed)

- Top of the tavern in a corner opposite Cole

- The Stables, the space between the stables and the Skyhold arnament's wall, close to the wooden fence

- Top of the rebuildable tower (the one that turns into a Mage or Templar tower)

 

These are all the places I know of.

What is the largest city in Thedas? Answer: Minrathos

What was the name of the battle where Kirkwall tried to exterminate nugs? Answer: The Battle of the Squealing Plains
