So pretty much all of her abilities have some sort of damage bonus against demons(along with mages and "magical creatures" whatever the hell that means, with the right upgrade), while doing no damage to non-demons(or seemingly implying that). So, this brings me to my point: unlike ME3MP, we are unable to actually pick the enemies that we fight, so how the hell are we supposed to know that we are going to be fighting demons, and thus it would be a good idea to pick the Templar? Most of her "Divine" skill tree is useless against non-demons/magic things.

First to clarify:

Mage Hunter affects the following

Red Templars:

Horror, Stalker, Knight, Behemoth, and Commander

Venatori:

Mages, Spellbinders, and Commander

Furthermore, the stun from Wrath of Heaven affects all creatures that are not immune to physical status affects (which is everything except commanders and creatures that have active Barrier or Guard), which is what primes for the combo with Spell Purge.

Also, Payback Strike, Shield Bash, Shield Wall, Challenge, Bodyguard, and Line in the Sand are all not limited in such a fashion.

With that said, I most certainly want the option to select enemy type like ME3MP. Red Templars seem most likely to key glitch, and demons are a pain to PUG when friends are not online.

Wrath of Heaven + Dispel

AFAIK, templars and alchemists are the only classes that are able to execute a "cross-class" combo by themselves

These combos result in massive damage, and with the templar it's an AOE

The only enemies you need to be worrying about as a templar are the ones who are immune to stun

But as Mortiel stated, templars have multiple ways to deal with those types of mobs

Chain Lightening + Stonefist = Discharge combo (Arcane Warrior)
Winter's Grasp + Stonefist = Shatter combo (Elementalist)

Strange non-class combo that's not listed:

Shocked + Weaken = Sleep combo (Keeper, Arcane Warrior, Elementalist)

What cross-class combo does the Alchemist do? The only stun I could remember she had was Sleep, and I didn't remember her only having precision detonators. If that's the case, that is not a cross-class combo. Sleep and Precision are both rogue class.

I believe it may be the flask of frost plus twin fangs combo.

*facepalm* Duh... I forgot about that. I'm pretty sure there are other combos too. Those were all I could remember.

Right?! I mean, like how did that get skipped?

Yeah i feel like the whole templar specialisation in SP is kind of off. I mean the look at Cassandra. In her description it says she has all the abilities of a templar minus the lyrium addiction. Yet ask her, and she says they're completely different.

I've always thought it should have been Seeker instead of Templar. Maybe a seeker or a spirit of faith contacts you, and offers to give you the gifts of a seeker to set things back to normal again.

i mean seekers can use their powers on Templars and mages, and red lyrium doesn't affect them the way it does everyone else.

Sorry for the rant, it just seems off. I mean okay, i could get with it, but why give mp templar Mage Hunter and not the Inquisitor?

it would have made the templar so damn awesome. :(

Well, my moment was thinking... Aren't Templars supposed to hunt mages and fight demons? Why is this an optional passive anyway? Mage Hunter should be inherent in all demon-specific abilities to begin with.

I'd never play Red Templars.  Not because I've found them more likely to key glitch, but because the boss wave hangs at end with annoying frequency.

You could add Horror to this on a Necro using a Shock staff for an entirely in-class Nightmare combo.

Lighting Bolt (stun) and Stonefist  = Discharge?

Lightening Bolt paralyzes, so it's whatever the Paralyze + Impact combo is.

Isn't a Nightmare combo Sleep (rogue) + Eldritch (mage)? How would you accomplish this? I'm really curious here, cause I would love to make my Necromancer even more fun...

No, you're right, I was spacing out posting too early in the morning, was thinking back to DAO's Nightmare that used Sleep and Horror.

You use Energy Barrage or Mind Blast to accomplish it in DAI.

I apparently like to make strange builds, my templar has line in the sand, unbowed, and shield wall, I'm going for wrath of heaven as my last ability, wanted to make a very tough tank like char that even without aggro could hold enemies away from ranged teamates.

Another reason to play templar, she has a number of perks that affect the entire group, just by having a templar in the game, you group is stronger, how is that not good, no matter who you face.

Right?! Elementalist would be even more win!

Ok, well he is still weak, though. He doesn't have Spirit Mark.

Here's an equipment specific combo Templars can do:

Shock Rune + 1H

5% Chance to Weaken Passive + Weaken on Critical Hit Passve

==> Sleep

Add Thunderstrike in as the 1H, gain chain lightning. Suddenly you shock+weaken all the things, putting enemies to sleep with your 1H Thunderstrike.

The weaken on critical hit works for other classes with shock weapons as well, which makes for interesting combos.

WoH followed with SP obliterates mobs with a one-two punch that can't be denied (except by RTC, but he's a jerk who makes you fight him a second time, especially when idiots don't stop attacking him while he's in his death throes animation).
