The breach was closed relatively early in the game, much to my surprise. I really thought we'd be spending the whole game trying to find a way to close it. Yet after it is closed, some character's still talk as if it were still open. Nathalie during Leliana's quest, says she likes looking at the sky at dawn and seeing the sunlight go through the breach. The dwarves talk about it still being open during some war table missions. I think some of the companion banter also had them saying the breach was still open, something about having to close it or something. And these are just the examples I can think of right now.

 

I thought the breach was closed and was not reopened until the final main quest. Did I miss something? Why were so many people acting like the breach was still open? Was it not actually closed at the beginning of In Your Heart Shall Burn?

Apparently the breach wasn't closed until very late in the game originally, but then they changed their minds. But the excuse for people still saying those things is that you only sealed the breach and made it safe, not completely closed it. Kinda like duct taping something together; yeah, it'll hold, but sooner or later you're going to need to fix it for real.

Yeah, it just didn't make any sense. They're happy they closed the breach but they still keep talking about the threat that it represents. Weird.

During In Your Heart Shall Burn, you close it.

 

But it still remains, as you can see during the battle.

 

It is not sealed properly until Doom Upon All the World.

I think Cassandra even says after you closed it, "we're safe, for now."
But it seems to fit in well with the story still as long as you keep in mind it's not actually closed

It's a screwup, no doubt about it. The Breach is closed, even if the sky is skill "scarred" there. "Duct-taping" init to temporary stability is what we do during the prologue, after In Your Heart it really is gone.
