Everyone. Everyone is back.

That said, I think three are the most obvious:

- Solas. Has plans yet to be completed.

- Morrigan. Will most likely be sharing Flemeth's narrative role in the story with Solas.

- Cole. Very unique character that can bring insight and exposition to almost any character in Thedas.

Dear lord, I hope it's not Sera. I never boot her, but I never use her either. I really hope they don't do that to us. She's just too controversial in the like/dislike department and the fact she's the only one you have the option to boot in about every single convo you have shows they know it.

If the next game is in Tevinter than Dorian will certainly return.  We'll probably get Bull. I think Varric will return to Kirkwall, I can't see how they could possibly shoehorn him into that story.

I dislike her too but I want her to grow to not act like every elf is stupid

Hopefully no one but I bet Bioware is still going to put one person back in. Probably gonna be Cole. Dorian will probably make a cameo in Tevinter.

I think is Solas shows up, it will be as a deus ex machina/antagonist like Flemeth. I mean, he's up to something and this is a guy who wants to tear down the veil.

I actually think bianca could make an appearance as a party member in DA4. Would allow us to see the Varric/bianca relationship from the other side, also allows for Varric to "pop by"/mentioned without it seeming forced. Especially if the setting in North Thedas.
I don't think many or any DAI party members will carry over. But I dare say we'll see once DLC is out of the way and 4 is in development.

Well, I personally would like Cole to be the carry over.

Varric is the only reasonable character to bring back. He's not tied down by any obligations to duty or relationships (Cassandra because Seekers/possible Divine, others because of LI status), one of the more popular and well received companions (unlike Sera/Cole/Blackwall) and functions as a storyteller/classical bard type role.

I can see more NPC/cameo roles:
-Dorian (returns on some noble duty)
-Calpernia (depending on who you sided with)
-Solas (he's not going anywhere, I think he's going to be the next Flemeth/take her role as the ambiguous trickster/savior)
-Iron Bull (because Ben Hassrath/Qun)
-Cassandra/Leliana/Vivienne (whoever is Divine)

Personally I'd rather just get an all new cast and stop with the damn carryovers already, at least as far as important NPCs and companions go. I don't even want the Inquisition involved in the next game. New protagonist, new cast, new setting, fresh start already. Leave Inquisition with DAI.

Most are too tame for my taste; I hope to see none of them, as well written as they are.

If one must darken my door way come the next age, I'd prefer to take a Hannibal Lecter approach. That is to say, to encourage their darker nature and rebirth them in my own image. Just as I've done with other Bioware companions; Leliana and Garrus being the most overt of examples.

SOLAS

Cass

Morrigan

Cullen

Alistair (depending on your DAO decisions)

Varric

Fiona

Barris

Harding

Dorian - Not sure

that's it...

Rest were not that important..

I don't know who will be in the next game, but I know who I want to see. Dorian and Fenris. They would both be relevant to a Tevinter-specific game.

Just realized I really want those two to interact in the "Put two characters in a room" thread I created. The idea still stands. :D

I hope it's not Varric.  He was awesome in DA2, but he lost all value in this game.  He went from being a really awesome guy to being Bianca's bit%# so fast.  It's a shame he left his balls in Kirkwall.  I still love him, but honestly I don't trust they will do him justice  now.

I like this idea. We've never had a female dwarf before as well. I hope they spice up her backstory though. She's likeable but bland and easily forgetable.

I'd love to see Sera, a bit older, not quite as teenagery, a tad more mature, but still herself. I'd love to see a new look as well. And it can always be explained away why ; "Inky is busy with Inquisition stuff, sent me here [whatever the story is] for whatever reason, I want to help [main story] I sent word back etc"

I disagree with your last thought. I love how the games are connected in that way; one or two, in non companion cameos is all thats needed to maintain that anyway

If the next installment concerns all that stuff they've been hinting at about dwarves and lyrium, I vote Dagna for first ever dwarf mage companion. :D

Shale is determinant, so I definitely doubt she will be a companion or make a canon appearance.

So was Leliana.

I vote for Sera. She's the most interesting one.

Solas will surely return.

Maybe Cole, Iron Bull, and Dorian if we are going to Tevinter. I'm hoping for Sera too because she's hilarious and quite interesting.

ok, you guys aren't tallking companions anymore, are you? Because you haven't left any room for new ones, lol

I don't think any of the companions willl carry over to 4 as companions, but they might as npcs or in an advisory capacity. If any of the companions appear here, I thing it will be Narding, maybe Barris, but I think they're probablly going to want to mix it up so people don't have 'casting' expectations based on the past

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Leliana will be in it...again.

They did say they wanna focus on Northern Thedas so I can see Dorian and maybe even IB. Dorian seems to be a fan favourite and has always planned to go back to Tevinter; I can see IB tag along since they are/were collegues or lovers or as a spy.

Maybe scout Harding could even return as a companion. She's well-received and have good experience in scouting and can fight
