Thought I'd start a little something that wasn't necessarily negative because these forums are just flooded with positive topics.
It occurred to me that, as imperfect as DA:I is, there WAS a number of things I am happy to see excluded from the game.
For example:
The un-voiced protagonist. The silent hero. A few years ago, I wanted to see this return, but if it's skillfully employed, I have found that I actually enjoy hearing my character's voice. I don't really know how to explain it further, but it breaks immersion less for me.
Shuffling around while the A.I. calculates my position v. the enemy for auto-attack. That was just awful.
A completely open world. I had heard that BioWare took cues from Skyrim in designing this game. The truth of the matter is that, IMO, BioWare is good for a well told story. If I want to explore a hollow, 3d environment, I'll play Skyrim. I like that even though these areas are vastly larger than in previous games, they still have a decent number of areas that are...well...living, I guess would be the term.
Ninjas/Parachuters. Because that was one of the elements of DA2 that broke immersion for me.
Recycled assets. Gone, thankfully. I'm not just talking about DA2 for this one, either. DAO had it's share of noticeably recycled assets, as did ME1 and 2. Each new area is just that: new. In no way does it feel like I've been in a "new" area before. If they have recycled assets in this game, it is thankfully gone unnoticed.
Companion Outfits. I like that there is a certain level of individuality in what my companions wear, but I appreciate that I have the option of changing it to something different.
That's all I can think of, right now, but I'm sure there's more I might add later.
Things I'm glad DIDN'T return/Weren't in the game
