One of the biggest problem that I found playing through the whole game is that you don't actually have to go to any of the areas.

That to me is a huge problem to the flow of the story.

I find myself no reasons to go visit Emerald graves, forbidden oasis, empris du lion , the hissing wastes or the exalted planes.

The story doesn't lead you there at all.

You go to Hinterlands to solve and protect the people from the Mage and Templar war, you go to Stormcoast to recruit Iron Bull and since its different than Hinterlands, I bet most people finish the quests there as well. Then I go to Crestwood to meet with Hawk, so naturally you finish the quests that is around the areas as well, it then leads you to the Western Approach. But afterwards, I find that although I have all these areas unlocked, for the main story perspective, I don't have to visit any of the other areas at all.

There wasn't anyone I need to meet, to recruit, to find, or any ancient artifact that I would need to use against the Elder one.

I did finish all the quests in each area, because that is the way I play games, but I do find myself wonder time to time, why I am there at all.

I think it would have helped if there was someone important in each area or event that you can unlock to better build upon the idea that you are building an Inquisition. It is hinted here and there but nothing you can really see.
