im trying to make a Superb Spirit Rune for my mage but I cant seem to get enough pure spirit essences, is there anywhere in particular I should farm?
Are essence drops completey random?

I think you just have to close rifts and hope you get lucky. I didn't collect enough essences for the superb fire rune on my first playthrough, and I closed every rift in the game.

When you loot the green sack on the ground after closing a rift (or a chest somewhere):
1. Take only the essence and leave the other item(s).
2. Note the exact location.
3. Leave the map (travel to another map)
4. Return to the map and find the location
5. Loot again, and take only the essence.
6. Leave the map (travel to another map)
7. Return to the map and find the location
8. Loot again, and take only the essence....etc. etc.
You can do this as often as you need.
