To the left is my MALE Elf Inquisitor...and to the right is Solas, also a male elf. Did the male elf get shaped into a female body so they could save money on resources and share the female elf armors?

I made the elf head pretty much as skinny as possible in the creator knowing that the elf would be quite thin to keep everything to proportion but it is still really off. My first try with the elf, i had to scrap him, his head looked far too big for his body. The trick here was to make all his features, like eyes very very small and chiseled face.

I don't mind him being thin, just his shoulders are not that of a man. They need to be widened. Other than Solas, pretty much any MALE elf i encounter has bigger shoulders than my inquisitor...this has to be a bug.

It almost looks like he has tiny breasts as well, lol.

Solas looks awesome, i wish i could just choose him as my inquisitor, his choice of armors are far better too.

Not a bug, sadly :(.. I hate it what they are doing to the elves, proportions are just bad.

(maybe I am the only one, but I just want smaller humans with pointy ears from Origins back , I am afraid to see what my elven wardens look like now).

At least they look better than DA2 elves. IMO, anyway.

Here's the inquisitor beside some civilian women, even they are of greater size.

Bioware will never admit this but they know how ugly they made elves look, it is so ugly that even the developers themselves cannot stand it. That is why prominent "elf" characters actually uses human body model *cough*Sera*cough*

Solas has a human male body.

I dunno what they're doing with the elves. I get that they don't want them to look human and they don't want them to look lotr, but...they're supposed to be percieved as more beautiful than humans and...no. They just aren't and every game they get less attractive. Well, this isn't less attractive than DA2, it's just unattractive in a different way. If you have to give the companions human bodies so that they don't freak people out, then there's a design problem and the fact that they didn't do so with the player characters, too, is confusing as hell.

Fenris also looked very different than the other elves in DA2. Zevran wasn't so lucky.

But Solas doesn't have a human male body, he has his own, check this out:

I believe most of the companions have their own body type because they each get unique armor styles tailored for their body which the inquisitor cannot wear.

The way my male elf gestures the avaar skywatcher was hard to watch. I could never get the male elf CC to work very well either.

I don't know, faces are better probably because you can actually adjust them, but these bodies are just

Fenris looked better indeed and I once thought that he was too skinny!

All these pictures of poor elf are making my eyes hurt :(

I have a male elf ready to romance Cass...but I can't really play him...I'm worried she is gonna break him...

And I really like him, but really...the male elves are just so...undeveloped...they seem pre teen.

And is even more worse when you see charcters like Solas and Abelas being just so well proportioned...lithe and muscular, but not human-like. The right proportion. (Never tired of looking at them )

Of course the female elf too is not very lucky. She seem two feet from anorexia.

Overver, I think the bigger problem are some armours and the Skyhold PJ. Those don't forgive, and make it even worse for the body models.

Yes. I believe it's a conspiracy...the male elves share armor with the females to save on development resources.

Wow is it? How do you know, you couldn't make an elf in DA2... but yeah it seems to be just about the same size now that you mention it... not that we agree this is a good thing. :/

ok, that's even more confusing. Why would they give companions special treatment but not the PC? And why would they make 'normal' elves different in the first place?

I think a desire demon gave Solas his nice appearance. He couldn't take his appearance any longer, and so he made a deal with a demon to give him a better look.

My hypothesis is that initially Bioware were only going to allow you to choose between male/female Human Inquisitior...and then later in development they decided to throw in the extra races...which all feel very rushed...And possibly decided that male elf resources could be shared with some female resources, so decided to make the mesh skinny. That's my opinion.
