Solas has a human male body.
I dunno what they're doing with the elves. I get that they don't want them to look human and they don't want them to look lotr, but...they're supposed to be percieved as more beautiful than humans and...no. They just aren't and every game they get less attractive. Well, this isn't less attractive than DA2, it's just unattractive in a different way. If you have to give the companions human bodies so that they don't freak people out, then there's a design problem and the fact that they didn't do so with the player characters, too, is confusing as hell.
Fenris also looked very different than the other elves in DA2. Zevran wasn't so lucky.
Not to mention that male elf models are simply broken and glued. It is a botched work. Do you guys remember how they have promised to deliver good looking elves. How they have bragged with this picture:
the thing is you can't re-create this face in character creator.
For those interested more in the broken-glued arms [you are entering these pages at your own risk, you may never be able to play a male elf again after you see it]:
The more i play the elf, the more I notice broken arms too. I don't think his right arm should be glued to his torso like that. His left has a healthy gap...bugged out:
Interesting! I've never seen an occurrence of only one arm broken/glued but the other fine. In every outfit I've put my male elves in it's either both broken or both look fine because they used a human model for the outfit or the outfit is baggy/has concealing shoulder pieces to hide the ugly broken arms.
I don't mind the body proportions that much to be honest, it's the god damn arm bug that is immersion breaking(Clipping and the strange "inward angle"). How can an AAA game be released with such obvious issues lol..
I was asked why my male elf had boobs... :/ He really does look like a girl.
I'm usually a huge fan of elves but in this setting they simply bore me - largely because of how short, slender and persecuted they're presented as being. I'm a bigger fan of the more gritty and imposing elves that certain other settings boast. If we're lucky the next game might make them more classically handsome and with the potential to be more muscular/physically imposing. The qunari went through some pretty major changes in their presentation over the years so it wouldn't be too out there for something similar to happen to the elves.

What Elves do you know that are muscular/physically imposing? Most fantasy settings I've seen Elves are the typical tall, slender, elegant beings.

You obviously never seen blizzard elves.

The way my male elf gestures the avaar skywatcher was hard to watch. I could never get the male elf CC to work very well either.
Off topic, but thanks for that video... made my day. ![]()
To the left is my MALE Elf Inquisitor...and to the right is Solas, also a male elf. Did the male elf get shaped into a female body so they could save money on resources and share the female elf armors?
I made the elf head pretty much as skinny as possible in the creator knowing that the elf would be quite thin to keep everything to proportion but it is still really off. My first try with the elf, i had to scrap him, his head looked far too big for his body. The trick here was to make all his features, like eyes very very small and chiseled face.
I don't mind him being thin, just his shoulders are not that of a man. They need to be widened. Other than Solas, pretty much any MALE elf i encounter has bigger shoulders than my inquisitor...this has to be a bug.
It almost looks like he has tiny breasts as well, lol.
Solas looks awesome, i wish i could just choose him as my inquisitor, his choice of armors are far better too.
He's got a nice set of knockers.
It looks like they used Morigan's body model
...and thats why you should play a dwarf...
You obviously never seen blizzard elves.
I'd take DA2 Freak Elves over bouncy running animation blizzard elves anyday...
Now this is something! I need to repost it in the main thread. New mutation, Partyson's Mutation! Now I feel completed. Glued, broken, partially glued. World of Thedas is truly special.

Yes, it hasn't gone away... I have a theory that the Mercenary Coat style armor would bring the arms back up into a decent position...but i haven't found one yet, and i sold the original...i'll update when I do though.
Yeah, no guys. The male elves don't have boobs - they have defined chests. All these images illustrate is how dang TIGHT that horrible Skyhold outfit is.
This exact issue is why I quit 10 hours into the game to reroll a Dwarf.
For what's worth I think they're using the same texture for both genders, either by design or mistake, and the shading which makes far more sense in the female variant fools people into seeing more than there actually is there. Case in point, someone did a retexture of this outfit with the shading removed:Yeah, no guys. The male elves don't have boobs - they have defined chests. Is that flat? The way the metal things stand on the outfit outlines a not very man-looking boob to me.
Maybe I'm crazy, I've been looking at this picture for the last 5 minutes.

I had the same suspicion...The shadey texture around the chest looks like it was made for breasts
I don't intend this to sound mean, but are you aware that 'man-looking' chest still has certain curve to it?Is that flat? The way the metal things stand on the outfit outlines a not very man-looking boob to me.

Well, here is my elven quizzie for comparison.... Hmm...

There's picture with example of it just few posts up.
If people honestly think that's "not very man-looking boob" then it really makes me wonder what in their minds an actual male chest looks like.
Lol, I have an actual male chest.
It's not that the elf has curvature, it's that it's sort of conical and at the center of the chest. If you showed me that model headless I'd say it's a woman with a small cup size.
