Every now and then some of my mage characters will develop this glowing cloud like aura that floats about them outside of combat, does anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it?

Lightning mage? I am pretty sure one of its passives made me glow

Did you take the Fortifying Blast upgrade to Mind Blast?
Apparently that can cause a static green swirl to play on the character until the next area transition.
You can disable Mind Blast in tactics (so they'll never cast it), or you can re-spec and spend the point on something else.
