I think three talentless nobodies falling into the role of saviour and defeating the super powerful bad guy only to die or return (and die) is reaching the limit.

I'm fed up of having no history.

I'm fed up of not knowing what the hell is going on.

I'm fed up have having no informed conversations with allies.

I'm fed up of seeing familiar faces that have no idea who I am.

I'm simply not buying it anymore. It's dull. It's been done!!!

Can the inquisitor see the story through from here?!

Please.

It seems easily doable to me and might actually create some depth that Inquisition seemed to sorely miss. All these world changing choices mean nothing if they don't affect "us" in the next game.

I saw Hawke and I just wanted to scratch her eyes out. There can only be ONE hero thanks, get out of my game! Didn't I get lucky in the fade - no brainer.

The companionships and relationships can carry over. Just because they were lovers and broke up and maybe saw someone else, doesn't mean they can't get back. I loved my Kaiden loyalty paying off in ME.

Put a bit of effort in the relationships and plot and less in the castle customisation and crafting (I can't believe anyone wants these things in the scheme of things!!!) and I think it'll pay off.

Please.

I like the changing protagonists. Makes it seem like there's more than one person who doesn't suck complete ass.

There is a lot to say for just being pretty, as so many are so shallow or simply blinded and deaf - There is no way Inquisition deserves Game of the year given its incomplete status and loads of foundation errors, plot errors and the like.  There is also no doubt that this game system has potential and should be the basis of future games, regardless of Bioware's inability to show it with DA3 having so many compromised systems.  However, Bioware needs to get back to work on being one of the best in the storytelling business and developing the interpersonal relationships with characters and goals that help make the characters come alive in a "living world".

There are a few competing writers that have posts on Role playing writing styles challenging Bioware to do better.

I like a new hero each time. As long as we get some backstory first.

I agree with the OP, i would now like to see a returning pc for a couple of games, maybe not the inquisitor but perhaps the next pc an tbh a return to the DA2 more "personal" story, maybe a slave in Tevinter or a son/daughter of a ruined noble house there.

I'd disagree on his points though, i'd cut race selection out again, but that dont mean the pc needs to be human, an focus more on that single choice's story, cut the companions down again but continue what they doing in DA:I but add more to the ones they give us an integrate there story better and more with the main story an that of the pc's

I wish we could import out history and I get my grey warden back....and alastair...and the OLD zevran....and leliana would be a lot nicer if she could see the warden again.

:(

I was never so happy to see Hawke in all my life.  Except the import didn't work and it wasn't my Hawke, but...still would be nice to add Hawke to the party after he/she shows up.

Yeah, If we ever get an Inquisition 2 (Which is unlikely), I wouldn't mind playing with my Inquisitor again. In fact, I'm hoping for the first DLC to be the rumored "The Calling" where you are able to play with THE Greg Warden for one last time. So yeah, it would be nice to have the same protagonist in the next Dragon Age.

So new people to the franchise can just "deal with it"?

Yep I agree. DA needs a focal point. The story is disjointed, it's a mess. I would love a return of the inquisitor just to stabilize it for awhile.

I don't mind new protagonists, I just need more background to the new ones and something that would feel like an origin instead of handling things the way they did for Inquisition. I want to see material manifestations of NPCs related to my NPC so I can make my own story with them, sorta like Origins.

What do you mean? I think that ME3 did that right. It's not that hard to follow what already happened, if the newbie is interested of course.

I feel like I don't have as many sarcastic options as this inquisitor as I did with my warden or hawke.  She's too nice or something.  Anyway, I miss Hawke and my Grey Warden.

We didn't have 3 saviours, only 2.  Warden and The Inquisitor and they're both like 12 years apart and definitely not talentless.

Also having the same protagonist is a terrible idea. Shepard keeps having the same crew and the same characters returning makes the ME universe feel like a small world and giving the same character way too much attention. One of my biggest disappoint in ME3 was 5/7 of the crew was just ME1/2 characters. Give me new companion over the same companions any day.

Also you know that most choices are just illusion right? If Bioware continued with the Inquisitor as the main PC, they'll either just retcon some choices to fit the story or have very similar replacement for dead characters. Not to mention they'll probably just ignore choices you made in the companion quests just to fit the character back into the story just like ME2/3 did.

Sure ME3 was great for new comers, but at the expense of Shepard's intelligence. Shepard was an idiot, asking questions he'd already knew the answers to. I said this once and I'll say it again: if new comers begin in a later part of a series and not at the beginning, it is justified they should be confused. Each installment shouldn't have to reiterate every fact over and over to help people catch up. It's a waste of time, and very redundant.

Agreed. I do want to continue with my Inquisitor as well. Just trying to understand why the user that I quoted thinks that there needs to be a new character after each game.

It's kind of a paradoxical situation we've got here. People such as us who know the lore (in and out I guess) want to continue the story of our great RPG but then new players need to be fed the incredible amount of info very quickly. Problem for the writers is "how do I put 2 games+DLC worth of lore in this game but at the same time not make it seem like it's imposing itself?" (no 10 minute long text about what's going on at the start for example).

As the person said in the comment you answered to, your hero magically looses his/her memory if you assume they know the stuff (experienced player point of view) and to the neophyte it seems that it's totally natural to ask the question.

The opposite situation you have a hero asking no question because we assume that the player knows the stuff. The new player actually needs to go dig in three books worth of lore for that one information he need=immersion breaking and in a way a fault in game/story design.

The only solution that seems to satisfy both category of players (compromise really...nobody is happy, bu nobody is left out) is to have a new hero each time. The new ones get an entirely new story with characters that answer their questions through their interaction with the world (not lore reading purely) and the old ones get instantaneously the references and recurring characters and don't need to ask the questions. I do try to put myself in the shoes of the newcomer once in a while (and I am sometimes) and it's difficult to motivate oneself to follow a story when you have to force feed yourself tons of lore in one go. There are other players than myself out there who want to play this game and I want to share this cool experience with them as well.

That's why I think this new hero for each adventure is kind of the best solution. I am biased in the way that I don't mind "loose ends" with some of my heros. I was admittedly dissapointed by the "appearance" of the Hero of Ferelden, but it's as good as it could have been (relationship with other characters explored and hinting at consequences of your actions here and there).

I do not see it happening, but I would love to play my Inquisitor again. I wouldn't even mind a return to Hawke or the HoF, though, considering they may be dead, this seems even more unlikely.

This llikely won't happen as the outcry if the inquisitor was chosen to continue with over the warden or Hawke would be immense. I think it's more likely that all 3 will appear as npcs.
