Hello there,

I have just rolled a rogue and I would like to make heavy use of sneak attacks. From how I understand the mechanics, I have to either be behind or besides an engaged opponent or attack him while he can't see me.

In the Infinity Engine games, you just went into stealth mode and attacked a foe while being hidden.

However, when I click on an enemy in NWN2 while being in stealth mode, my character just won't attack. The same happened before with my spellsword mage who wouldn't attack when I cast Improved Invisibility on him before. Do I have to cancel stealth mode before I attack or how does it work?

Thanks a bunch!

No, you shouldn't cancel stealth before attacking.  What happens if you right-click-hold and choose "attack"?  You shouldn't have to do that, as clicking on the enemy should be sufficient, as long as it's an enemy.

According to the wiki, these circumstances give you automatic sneak attacks:

A character won't be able to initiate attacks if they've been blinded, stunned, dazed, paralysed, confused, petrified, or if they have parry mode active. Simply being invisible or in stealth mode shouldn't stop you from attacking.

A character won't be able to initiate attacks if they've been blinded, stunned, dazed, paralysed, confused, petrified, or if they have parry mode active.

And of these, parry mode is the most likely culprit.  It is easy to accidentally activate.

Also ...  just in case ... you're not trying to attack non-hostile civilians and such, are you?

I don't think this root forum was intended to have topics made in it

Then stop posting in it - you're making it worse.

Argh! Now you've got me doing it too...
