Every time I pick 'I know what you mean', the third dialogue response at the first meeting with Alistair the game will crash. Alistair delivers his line and begins to animate, but the visuals suddenly stop moving (stall) and then the whole game crashes. Alistair keeps speaking right up to the program terminating. Reloading an old save and proceeding to the same point results in a crash on the same dialogue line at the same time.
I can pick other options in the same dialogue and proceed to recruiting Alistair, just not that dialogue option.
Game/System details:
Regular release, Steam version. No extra content enabled, not even the freebies yet.
System:
Core 2 Duo 2.66
4 Gigs of RAM
Nvidia 9600M GT
Windows XP (26 gigabytes of HDD space free).

I have just had another similar crash in the Harrowing, depending on what angle I approach the Rage Demon and speak the first line, a similar crash occurs, visuals stop, the dialogue continues for a while and then the game crashes. It seems to be relating to animation.
This time I was able to approach the Rage Demon from another angle and choose the same dialogue line to proceed. I am unable to do so with the Alistair dialogue because it occurs after a forced cut scene from the same angle, so crashes every time.
