This thread doesn't have enough classic Doctor Who gifs. Here, let's start with pretty much the only good part of the TV movie and work back:
you think the 90s is classic shhhhh

Why does a bisexual (or pansexual, as Bull is often referred to) character need to wave it around like a flag to be legit?
You mean, like Zevran, who was clearly trying to get into the Warden's pants? As a pan Two Spirit, you don't know how awesome it is to see a character who isn't afraid to be themselves and is confident of their sexuality. Most media portrayals have us as glorified saints, lustful caricatures, or asexual eunuchs with no agency. Inquistion also has several bi characters, with varying personal quirks. He's polarizing to some - as threads about his relationship with Dorian will attest - but he's far from dull, and is just as flawed as any of the other characters.
I think his popularity may have something to do with his VA. Just my gut feeling.

Well, if we're going by the way the BBC classify everything these days, the TV movie sits somewhat awkwardly with Classic Who rather than New Who. It's fascinating how the semantics of that changed in 2005. Before then there was a real split between the spin-off material about Doctors one through seven and the ongoing adventures of Eight, but after the new series launched he kind of got shoved backwards. Although Big Finish made the Eighth Doctor Adventures even more of a separate thing after that, I guess, by mostly taking them out of the monthly series. But I guess they don't have the new series license, unlike the various book and comic people.
... um, sorry. Dragon Age is not the only thing I'm nerdy about.
This thread needs music

Iron Bull is just a cool and tolerant guy. He is the Garrus of the DA Universe. A very likeable character.
I thought we agreed Varric is DA Garrus? ![]()

You can't romance him in the sequel

He's also not as cool as Garrus in the sequel.

I know! my female Quizzies would be all up in that chest hair too...*sulks*
Not going to adress my examples of The Iron Bull and Cullen? I agree Sera is among the last of the LIs who would want that, but it still serves as an example. The only times the discussion among LIs ever comes up is with LIs who are appalled by that thought.
There is no dialogue about any LI wanting to settle down. Become involved in a committed relationship yes, settle down no. So we have open rejections on the idea, and any possibly acceptance of the idea is found only in headcanon. That's how equal no matter how you slice it. And yeah, Cullen clearly wanted that since when the game came out after getting involved with him you are called Mrs. Rutherford. But then they patched that line out. And again, headcanoning marriage vs canon premarital relations is not equal. As a comparison, we can headcanon that Varric and the Inquiositor were involved, doesn't mean it is equal to a relationship actually established and shown.
As for your NPC examples: The Hawkes die, Aveline and Donnic only marry after banging in her office, Oghren and Felsi get separated in Awakening, Isolde can die, the Couslands die, we have no idea if Delilah Howe's husband survived what happened in Amaranthine, I'll give you Mae/Thornold. So of all those you listed, only one, maybe two end positively.
I never used the term discriminate. I said they weren't being inclusive, which is accurate since 0 out of 8 have it involved in the relationship while 4 out of 8 for certain and up to 8 out of 8 can have premarital sex involved. The fact people can headcanon something doesn't mean it is there. People can headcanon that Cassandra is bisexual instead of heterosexual, doesn't mean she is.
So while I get your point, I disagree with it. And devoted relationships is not the same thing.
You know what, I'm not even going to sugar coat this. I think you're working really hard to be offended by things that aren't offensive.
And what's the deal with marriage anyway? Why do you need a ceremony or a legal status in order to be happy with your relationship. Trust me dear, I've been with my man for years. We're not married, but the only difference between us and a married couple is a piece of paper. I don't need a ceremony to tell him that I love him, I do that anyway.
Tangent: is marriage actually a sacrament in Thedas? Does the Chantry have any official issue with sex before marriage? We know some people take vows of celibacy, but I get the impression that it's more about focus and devotion than thinking sex is bad in and off itself. Sebastian also seems to have sworn off drinking, for example, and as far as we know the Chantry hasn't got a problem with alcohol.
Suddenly I'm wondering if Leandra and Malolm were ever married. They ran off together but I can't remeber if she ever refers to him as her husband rather than "your father".
This is a very good question. But knowing Leandra & apparently Malcolm did manage to hide his magic, maybe they did in Ferelden.
However, the most important is that they stay together caring for each other until the very end & care for their kids. Marriage or not, they already understand & did what were the most important.
The thread still going?
Awesome.
When asking Sera about it, she spits her drink in your face and calls you a loony.
>implying she doesn't want marriage.
You get a shiny "greatly approves" if you choose this option. So her calling you a loony, doesn't necessarily mean she doesn't want to get married one day. From the approval, it's safe to say she'd like to marry the person she loves.
I'm having trouble believing that's a genuine post from the op. I mean, it amounts to 'bisexuals are big wh***s
Well being fair here, that is the typical Dragon Age Bisexual. Iron Bull, Zevran, Isabella. Nobody can say they're not whores. Even Leliana as a bard, could fit it. Though I guess her sleeping around would be for "reasons". Josie is the only one that isn't.
The Dragon Age 2 romances are playersexual, so I don't count them.

"Marriage is when we admit our parents were right..." (Billy Bragg for those not familiar with the reference)
I've been with my current partner for 18 years, the notion that somehow we are less devoted, aren't prepared to make things work when things aren't peachy or have zero commitment to each other smacks of complete ignorance about how relationships work. I could be offended about the moralising but I just find it kind of sad really.

Well that's awfully convenient for you to be able to dismiss two other examples of bisexuals who don't sleep around. And why don't you count them? Because they don't sleep around, therefore they must be playersexual and not bisexual. Meaning that all bisexuals sleep around. Nice circular logic there.
I love how fans feel that they can override the writers whenever it fits their argument. Gaider says that they are bisexual but because you want them to be playersexual, suddenly his opinion as head writer doesn't matter. Awfully convenient.

This! So much this. Making a relationship work is not about what legal status you have or the ceremonies that you've been through. It's about love and respect, it's about being there for each other, it's about working together too solve the issues that you may face. And if anyone tells me that just because I'm not married, I'm not in a truly committed relationship then I just shake my head. Because they have no freaking clue about what they are talking about.
