I just wish they granted more than 10 XP for all of that hacking and slashing.....you only need to kill 150 of them or so to level up to level 16. lol
Bears? Really?

The amount of HP they had were on the overly high side, but they didn't bother me much. Only when they spawned right next to me while I was fighting templars.
No one bear was the issue it was that they kept spawning and entering combat with other critters, including other bears. The rugby scrum of bears, dogs, templars and bandits has happened to be more than once.

How else are you supposed to collect the bear asses if you don't have hundreds of bears in the game?

That reminded me of Ren and Stimpy, for some pleasant reason.

There are 6 bears around the forest camp. You can be in the camp staring down the hill and bears attack the frickin' camp with no one in it doing crap about it.

Ya I think your on the SW corner, that's the higher leveled area of The Hinterlands. There is kind of a sweet spot where multiple bears cross paths, not only regular bears, but Great Bears too. If you happen to be in the sweet spot, you aggro 2, and then kill 1, and then 1 respawns, and then kill another, then another respawns, and so on. A minor annoyance, just move or run out of the way... this game is not challenging, enjoy this small challenge while it lasts.

The saddest part about the bears is that they're harder to beat than Corypheus.

You can use the camp's tents while the battle is raging on. This will revive fallen companions, restore their health, give your potions back.

That portion of the Hinterlands is irritating, but it's also strangely amusing to me. I find the hundreds of quillbacks and hyenas I have to fight in the Western Approach to be far worse for some reason. I guess bears are funnier than hyenas.

Skyrim had a similar issue in the midgame where you get jumped by super bears in the wilderness that are tougher than a lot of the stuff you find in ruins.
Then again, DAO had super wolves.

Super trap laying wolves. Sneaky SoB's. I think that was the toughest fight in the whole game, maybe the whole series.

Perhaps the Bears were driven mad by the presence of demons. Cuz you know...everything else goes mad around demons, so why do bears get to be any different? Why are bears so ****ing special?! You tryin'a say that bears are more genetically resistant to demon-infused madnes??! Bull****!

Overwhelm was awesome when you had Dog do it to enemy mages. It was the ultimate (and permanent) silence.

My rage at having my arcane might thwarted at the paws of a rangy mabari completely eclipses any satisfaction I may have gotten out of using the ability myself.

I don't even remember them anymore. Or I must have missed them LOL.
There were bears in the Brecilian Forest, near Lothering, and in several of the random encounters.
