Quick question if you pick up the focus abilities for your companions is the focus generated split amongst all those who are specced for a focus ability or do you get more for not having companions with a focus?

No, each companion has their own focus bar. If you did not select a focus ability for the said companion, the focus bar will not show.

Yeah I get that, Im reffering to actually the generating of it, and if theres any sort of benefit for not picking that up on a companion 

 

I Know they have there own bars but is it generated separately or is it divided amongst those who do have bars

IIRC, focus is gained at the same rate for everyone. Basically when one character scores a hit, all characters' focus go up.

But focus gain is kinda weird. You can be hitting the enemy for a minute and the bar doesn't move at all.

I always pick the Inquisitor skill that improves your focus gain when making a combo. You can go from an empty focus bar to a full bar in a matter of minutes.

OP is asking if Focus is a total number divided equally among companions. Meaning, if you have 3 party members, each will get a bigger share. That is what I am responding to. Each member generates focus independently because if I have one companion using +30% focus gain, that companion gets more as an individual.

Appreciate the responses and yeah was just trying to determine if there was any benefit in any way to not picking up a focus on a companion besides an ability point

I have never noticed a difference in focus gain between squad members, they always seem to max out at the same time. Not even when I equiped myself with a focus belt.

Granted, I didn't pay particular attention to this.

Focus % increase is bugged. It doesn't increase the stat like it should.
