I was just thinking about why I tended to like to actually manage my squad in Mass Effect and why I don't tend to like doing the same in this game.

Part of it is, with the experience being designed around linear corridors and cover based shooting, its probably easier to program a semblance of intelligent behavior into your squad mates so they don't need as much management. After properly equipping them, I was generally content to let them do their own maneuvering and shooting most of the time and rarely felt the need to tell them where to stand but I would manage their power/special attack usage.

The other part of it, the part I think you could copy is displaying squad members powers on screen when pause is hit. instead of having to cycle through each npc and select their powers, I could select them right from my own screen and resume fighting. You can keep the option to switch party members like you have now, but I really think having hot bars that pop up in pause for quick power management would speed things up without losing any of the depth of play (in my case it would increase my depth of play because I've typically just played the game on casual so I can focus on playing my guy while my squaddies run around acting like idiots.) I know we're talking about managing three squadmates vs Mass Effect's two and I know Dragon Age squaddies usually have more powers to manage but I still think you could fit them on the screen, especially if they only pop up when paused (and you could even make this a toggleable option so that people can decide if they want the convenience or the screen space.)

Probably too late for this go round. Maybe it could be bundled in a DLC or just done in your next game. That said, bringing back the advanced tactics customization of the previous two games is the higher priority. Hopefully you're closing in on having that for us.
