This game felt like a step sideways from Origins, not a step forward.

Origins we all saw the potential, with a few changes we could have an almost perfect game. Yet the things they changed werent better ir worse just different.

They wanted it to be Skyrim, but instead they were more Kingdoms of Amular.

In fact, they both have that single player mmo feel and silly fetch quests every two steos that go nowhere. It's not to say Skyrim was void of fetch quests, but I felt it was easier to get immersed and care about the world and npcs in Skyrim, where as DA:I and KOA were just like "oh you brought my sister's ring, here is some exp go f yourself and never talk to me again"

Here's the thing though. If I wanted Skyrim, I'd just play that again. They need to carve out their own identity in the genre. It's bad enough when your first game comes off like a lovechild of Tolkien and Moorcock, but it's worse when you try to be other games and completely miss the point on why a game like Skyrim was liked in the first place by so many.

I think the issue is EA standing over them caring about profits above all else, instead of crafting the perfect rpg. EA is completely out of touch when it comes to gaming, and if they didn't monopolize a few popular sports for games, they would have gone bankrupt ages ago. Hell, companies that made great games went down. Most of what EA touches becomes garbage with the occasional once in a blue moon good game.

I'm getting off my own topic though. DA:I is a solid 8/10, but I think we all knew they could make a 10/10 if they concentrated hard enough of creating a masterpiece instead of what they will think will sell 15 million copies. Those don't always go hand in hand. What you ended up was a game that wasn't a masterpiece and didn't sell 15 million copies. For such long development, we expected more. The game lenght is artificially padded with filler quests, fetch quests, both which usually go nowhere or have little impact, walking over the same spots multiple times, etc.

Yea.. Much like DA2, it would be great, if it wasnt called Dragon Age! Neither were Dragon Age successors!
