I always liked Jedi Academy, disappointed me that they made the generic human male the canon version of the character despite the race & gender choices ![]()
Obscure Gems nobody has heard of and games that deserve sequels.

Not really obscure, but underrated and still not as known as it should be IMO.
I want more :/
Remember when Microsoft used to have a varied exclusive catalogue for their consoles? Yeah, me either.

I swear this is like the 5th time I've seen this thread. Search function being put to great use again.
You forgot to put quotation marks around the word "function." The search function hasn't been functional since the years of the Middle Forum, you'd be better of using Google to find BSN threads about underrated games.

I would but I recently remembered it lets you search specifically for keywords in thread titles so you can actually find stuff.

Demon's Crest, though I think it'd only work as a Steam/GoG-only title. I doubt Capcom would go any farther than selling the Wii-
U version, but a man can dream.

I'm still waiting for a sequel to this masterpiece...... I played a game back in 2012 that had Mass and Effect in the title followed by the number 3. But....... It didn't feel very "Mass Effect-y" to me.... More like the bastard step child of Gears of War with some streamlined RPG elements thrown in.

I feel like Wing Commander, despite being well known during it's run and which had five installments, has been lost to the collective gaming culture.
If talk about a series that dealt with companions, permadeath and choice and consequence in huge ways, you need only look here. Your relationship between others affected the story and how things played out, and losing a squad mate through the normal course of a mission meant that member was dead - forever. Others would react to that, new members might become available because of the death of someone else, etc.
When people talk about how devs can't use permadeath with games that are driven by companion interactions, I need only look at Wing Commander IV, which was done with full video capture FMV movie cutscenes and Mark Hamil as the main character, yet still included dialogue choices, companion permadeath and C&C. Suck an egg to that.
EDIT: So to finish the thought, I'd like to see that series rebooted. Then again, flight sims seem to be a deader genre than old school RPGs.
Flight sims or space sims? Because space sims are getting a resurgence. You've got the X series, which has been here consistently when everyone else ran away. They recently released X Rebirth, which had a bad release but they've supposedly fixed a bunch of it (the current splash image for it on my Steam Wishlist is X Rebirth 2.0). You've got Star Citizen, and Squadron 42, which will be the spiritual successor to Wing Commander. You've got Elite: Dangerous, which is out now. And then there's Limit Theory, though I don't know too much about it.
It's also worth mentioning that Wing Commander 4 had a budget of 12 million dollars back in 1995. To do something comparable today would require an insane amount of cash, for truly questionable return.
As for the thread, I'd say, like last time, American McGee presents SCRAPLAND. Great game.
And Hammer & Sickle. Truly amazing game as well.
Also Jet Set Radio Future, though for all I know that's less obscure.
Also Legoland, that game was great.
Also Railroad Tycoon 3! Excellent as well.
And SimCity 4 deserves a sequel ![]()

Turning into the bastard step child of Gears of War was the best thing that happened to Mass Effect, not even joking. BioWare touting choice and consequence in their titles needs to be dialed down a bit though. Gameplay was the best it's ever been. Story telling could use some work though.

It is, in the sense that story telling has nothing to do with why video games are what they are in the first place.

Silent Hunter series. Fully&well modded Silent Hunter 3 is the most atmospheric game ever. In all likelyhood the best game nobody has ever played. You end up feeling feels no other game I've encountered could provide. Flavor of excitement it deals is pretty unique.
With right add ons it also provides a surprisingly good amount of various RPG elements.
Spend a real life hour or two in tracking a convoy, shadowing it, identifying targets, calculating and deciding good moment to attack it. Sneak in position and calculate a good firing solution. Launch torpedoes. Those 1-3 mins as your torpedoes are in water, travelling to target and you get to wonder if you calculated, guesstimated and and executed everything right enough or not.. it is a very cool moment.

There actually was one! ![]()

It had... four versions of Pong! ![]()
There was a time when including 4 versions of a game in one machine was mind-blowing technology.
I suddenly feel the need to watch something on VHS. ![]()
