I let Hawke die instead of Loghain. Hawke's "Corypheus is mine" really spoke to me. Plus, Loghain is a chill guy when you get to know him. I didn't want to kill off my Warden's best buddy.

Also, like some others here, my Hawke had blood on her hands. She kept trying to appease the templars in an effort to protect Bethany, but in the process she forgot how to say no. When Meredith pushed her to kill her sister, she just... let it happen.

Exactly, if he didn't say that line as well as you need to rebuild the wardens to Loghain it is no question. I can't sacrifice my Hawke though. Mine is a mage though so there is potential he could survive the fade then again he has no open rift to go through so I guess not.

Being that he says Corypheus is mine! what the hell? Where is he during the last fight?

It's a weird line. I read it as an admission of guilt -- "I let him loose, so if anyone dies to save the one who can stop him, it's me". That's her job. The Warden's job is to salvage what can be salvaged of his order.

Yeah, I sacrificed Hawke because I got that he wanted to undo the damage. He felt guilty, so I let him make the sacrifice. I figured it was more important to keep the Wardens around too.

...then more companions disapproved than were in favor of having the GW join the inquisition, WTF. The epilogue didn't make me happy either. Stroud failed me...

It was an easy choice because my import got messed up anyway and my female (!) Hawke did not import. Instead I got default male without any possibility to customize. So I had zero attachment to DAI Hawke. I hope this time I got the import right and not dead Alistair send me a war table letter from the grave again O_o

Seems to be working fine so far...

As I said in another thread, Loghain kicked off the Dragon Age so I'm keeping his old ass around as long as I can. Even if it were between Hawke and Stroud I'd go with Stroud. Hawke should've taken the Joining if he wanted to be saved by the Inquisitor tbh.

I gave Hawke the same mustache, so their really was no reason to. As for any of my female ones, nah. It's rare I play female characters more than once, so they are all much more precious than some dude we've seen a grand total of 15 minutes of.

I sacrificed Hawke instead of Loghain.  It just seemed to me that the aid of the Wardens lead by the Hero of River Dane would be more valuable than what Hawke could offer.  Loghain's dead in my next world state import though, so I plan on saving Hawke instead of Stroud.

Loghain has influence, even if he is a Grey Warden. He is the Hero of the River Dane, a title that is still respected to this day I'm sure. At the end of the scenario he/the other lesser warden options (come at me bro) is the highest ranked Warden remaining in the region. It's up to him to rebuild the Wardens of the area, and I believe that of the three wardens that can appear for the scenario, Loghain is the one best suited for the job. And Alistair is the worst.

I never played Dragon Age II, I will preface with this. The mannerisms of my sarcastic Fem-Hawke, as one might call her, troubled me and her obsessive hatred for Blood Magic which, while pretty darn bad in certain circumstances, was too extreme for my tastes. Yes the Wardens used blood magic, yes they were getting ready to sacrifice themselves en masse to try and summon a demon army to clear out the Deep Roads, but they are a noble Order who have sacrificed everything of their own for the sake of people who are usually ungrateful for it...and that's not even throwing in the part where they are being manipulated by Tevinter dogs who are in turn being used by Corypheus.

So I let Hawke stay behind because I did not like her, The Warden/Loghain is more important, and because I have a suspicion that the 'Hawke will Probably die' line favors the word 'probably' more than it does in regards to the warden staying behind.

Also: That juicy Varric reaction. Squirm my dwarven friend, squirm.

I always scrifice Hawke instead of Stroud/Alistair.

2 reasons: Hawke screws up everything, so this is her one redeeming moment :P (Not really, I just hate DA2)

and the Wardens need a senior warden to help them rebuild!

As the ideal solution for this conundrum,

I sacrificed Stroud. He's just so boring.

All I could think about that entire story line is how I thought Stroud's role was perfectly written for the Warden but wouldn't have fit for the like 3% of people that did the US/people that would've been upset by a voiced Warden

Between Hawke and Loghain, Hawke will always be left behind. In fact, Hawke will always be left behind, period.

Reason? I do not like Hawke. Also a contributing factor - Hawke in general is far too incompetent to be an asset of any kind.

Warden Lieutenant:  "Warden Commander Loghain, the Arch Demon's forces are about to break through our lines.  If that happens all is lost.  What should we do?"

Warden Commander Loghain:  "Sound. The. Retreat."
