There really needs to be a replacement for characters that leave your party post game. I have exactly one mage choice now that I beat the game. It isn't much of a problem now that I got 100 percent, but when DLC launches, one mage will blow.

Seriously.
Did you lose the other mage because of approval or because of a decision of the Grand Clerics' council? Because if it's the latter, you may be able to get at least one mage back. I know that if you talk to Cassandra after that decision, she'll rejoin. If it's over approval, you're kinda S.O.L.
But I'm going to be raging for quite a while about that one mage who took off with my gear. Best armor I had.

Now that is serious! Unlike "blondie" that had few upgrade issues, da3 allowed you to max out the team and then they run off with the gear! 
Deserters! 
Of course the game economy was very lacking, but the time investment was important. You should have gotten a best buddy perk for making the items! Additionally, random dialog and commentary concerning the gear you got them or that they want could have gone a long way in improving the character depth.
