I know that sounds silly :-/
But i have had issues with patches for games i purchased from them in the past.
They only patches that would work had to come from D2D
I wouldn't think that would be the case with ME2 .. but just a thought.

The second time I tried running it with just the core install and I still got the error. This seems to be a problem unique to the digital download version.

I've got the standard from d2dGalacticTornado wrote...
Does everybody else have the Digital Deluxe Edition or do some have the standard? I'm just wondering if its a DDE-only issue or not. Also, I'm running Windows 7 x64.

When I was downloading the game, midway through something messed up and I had to start over from the beginning. In my downloads file, I had 2 files for ME2, I deleted the first since it was incomplete. I then started the setup from the file, not D2D's download manager. (This is the unusual part) Near the end of the installation a box always appeared telling me that there was an update for Adobe Air available, which I did not have. I installed adobe air and updated it. The game finished installing and now it works.
Hope this somehow helps.

also I've never used direct 2 drive but do they provide a download manager? Internet Explorer hates downloads over 4 gbs or so for some bizarre reason.

*You still need an updated version of Adobe Air or the activation will still not correctly run!*
http://get.adobe.com/air/
(Also everything should be only 1 slash not 2... The forums keep doubling them for some reason...
in a cmd window browse to the folder where you downloaded the game then the "software" folder ie:
C:\\\\Users\\\\name\\\\Downloads\\\\MassEffect2_DigitalDeluxeEdition_ddsetup\\\\software
then do:
eaaccessinstaller.exe /s /dir C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\Binaries
(where that last one is the path of your install)

Did you just get air off the internet or did the game provide the installation?mackster2289 wrote...
Alright, this is unusual but I got it to work. I'm going to detail exactly what I did since I do not know why it is working now.
