I keep getting this message after hitting play on the first menu. It starts happening after the date check and then I can never get past this. I've tried reinstalling the game.

I downloaded the game from Direct to Drive.

Yeah, same problem here, I just installed all my bonus content and I'm waiting to start. I also downloaded from D2D.

Nope, not the bonus content. I have not added that yet and I am having the same problem. Downloaded from direct2drive... Also tried running and setting up the configuration utility with no change. Running Win 7 x64

Does D2D offer the DLC through their site somehow?

I know that sounds silly :-/

But i have had issues with patches for games i purchased from them in the past.
They only patches that would work had to come from D2D

I wouldn't think that would be the case with ME2 .. but just a thought.

The first time I installed I went ahead and installed all the DLC stuff first and got the error.
The second time I tried running it with just the core install and I still got the error. This seems to be a problem unique to the digital download version.

Does everybody else have the Digital Deluxe Edition or do some have the standard? I'm just wondering if its a DDE-only issue or not. Also, I'm running Windows 7 x64.

I had this error. when I reinstalled I ALLOWED it to install the Adobe AIR software and the problem was solved. So for me at least is was not installing the Adobe sofeware that was causing the issue.

My version was theDDE from D2D, running fine for over an hour now.

Sounds like theres a problem with D2D. If you log in to EA Download Manager, you can activate and download ME2 within the interface.

Alright, this is unusual but I got it to work. I'm going to detail exactly what I did since I do not know why it is working now.

When I was downloading the game, midway through something messed up and I had to start over from the beginning. In my downloads file, I had 2 files for ME2, I deleted the first since it was incomplete. I then started the setup from the file, not D2D's download manager. (This is the unusual part) Near the end of the installation a box always appeared telling me that there was an update for Adobe Air available, which I did not have. I installed adobe air and updated it. The game finished installing and now it works.

Hope this somehow helps.

also keep posting what digital retail store you bought it from. It may very well be an issue with one of the releases.

also I've never used direct 2 drive but do they provide a download manager? Internet Explorer hates downloads over 4 gbs or so for some bizarre reason.

running win 7. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled the base package. Started up no problem this time. Not sure which of the 3 DLC packages is to blame.

The setup is not installing the EA Activation Tools correctly try this:

*You still need an updated version of Adobe Air or the activation will still not correctly run!*
http://get.adobe.com/air/

(Also everything should be only 1 slash not 2... The forums keep doubling them for some reason...

in a cmd window browse to the folder where you downloaded the game then the "software" folder ie:
C:\\\\Users\\\\name\\\\Downloads\\\\MassEffect2_DigitalDeluxeEdition_ddsetup\\\\software

then do:
eaaccessinstaller.exe /s /dir C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\Binaries

(where that last one is the path of your install)

Did you just get air off the internet or did the game provide the installation?

Like I said before and Mackster2289 Said. Try reinstalling and when promped to install the Adobe AIR software do so. INSTALL THE ADOBE AIR software. For me and a few others it seems to have solved the problem

I also had an adobe air popup appear, I thought it was just spam from my adobe updater which is annoying me on a daily basis. There appears to be a correlation. BUT IS IT CAUSATION!?!
