Quick timeline of events for me:

1. Downloaded the game 2-3 days go with the Direct2Drive Pre-Load thing.
2. Installed updated Adobe Air when the game installation prompted me to.
3. Installed all DLC content.
4. Tried to run the game and got the error "AWC.dll
The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall your  game and try again."
5. Double checked the EACore_App.ini, all paths were correct.
6. Ran the command promt "fix" successfuly. Still got the error.
7. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game completely, not bothering with the DLC. Still got the error.
8. Ran the command prompt thing again (made sure I gave it a few mins), double checked Adobe Air was installed and updated properly. Still got the error.
I'm certain that I ran the command properly both times I tried that. Currently re-downloading the install files.

I'm having this issue as well, in the process of reinstalling, but it takes so long between attempts, easily 1.5 hours to install, argh.

Hey,

Adobe AIR is required for the EA Access tools to work. Once installed, this should address the awc.dll error.

Check that the paths in your EACore_App.ini folder are pointing the the correct location. Some distributors haven't been running the real ME2 installer thus installing a file that may not be compatible with your system. You may need to edit this file to point to the correct files (maybe add an (x86) to the end of Program files) or wait for a solution from your distributor.

Reinstalling the EA Access tools fixed that ini file for me, you can try my above post about installing them again if manual editing doesn't appear to work.

What are you talking about reinstalling EA access tools? what does that mean

1. Downloaded ME2 and the downloadable content, I did block the AIR popup. Result= error

2. Went to Adobe, downloaded and installed AIR.

3. Reinstalled ME2 WITHOUT uninstalling

I have the fully updated abode air thingy. I uninstalled and then re-installed. Is it ok to reinstall without uninstalling?

@LightningLdr180: Your command line method worked for me, was able to get it running afterwards. I had air installed and updated first, and already had dlc installed

edit: should have said I had installed Air after I got the error, had initially dismissed it as a popup when first installing game

I was having the same awc.dll issue as everyone and I thought I'd come back to the forums and tell everyone how I got it to work (Downloaded from D2D, BTW). LightningLdr180 has got it right. You need to go to the "Program Files\\Mass Effect 2\\Binaries" directory (or where ever you installed ME2) and check the EACoreServer.exe file to see if it is 0KB. If it is, then it never installed it self properly and needs to be reinstalled. Go back to the install files directory for ME2 and in the software folder is the file "EAAccessInstaller.exe". This file needs to be run with a switch ( /S). Go to Start -> Run and type: G:\\Misc\\MassEffect2_ddsetup\\software\\EAAccessInstaller.exe /S /dir "D:\\Program Files\\Mass Effect 2\\Binaries"

- Only one backslash.  This forum automatically doubles backslashes when you post them.  I'll try to edit them out.

Where "G:\\Misc" is the drive and directory I had the install folder downloaded to. And "D:\\Program Files\\" is the root directory of where ME2 was installed. Change as per your setup.

After that I ran the game and installed Adobe Air and everything was great.

I blame EA.

BTW, I never check the forums unless I'm having an issue, so if you ask me a question, I won't likely get back to you.

Thanks,

-B

The setup is not installing the EA Activation Tools correctly try this:

*You still need an updated version of Adobe Air or the activation will still not correctly run!*
http://get.adobe.com/air/

(Also everything should be only 1 slash not 2... The forums keep doubling them for some reason...

in a cmd window browse to the folder where you downloaded the game then the "software" folder ie:
C:\\\\\\\\Users\\\\\\\\name\\\\\\\\Downloads\\\\\\\\MassEffect2_DigitalDeluxeEdition_ddsetup\\\\\\\\software

then do:
eaaccessinstaller.exe /s /dir C:\\\\\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\\\\\Binaries

(where that last one is the path of your install)

thanks for the link

FOUND SOLUTION!!! Go to your Binaries directory, rune both EACoreServer.exe and EAProxyInstaller.exe, let windows firewall unblock it and VOILA!

I posted this on another thread. This is how I got it to work for me:

Ok, I think I figured it out on my end. Uninstall the game if you haven't already and re-install it. This time, instead of doing the standard install, you need to do custom. This will let you have the ability to put the launch icon on your desktop and create a separate folder for the game. Once I did this, it worked. I don't have the technical knowhow to explain why it worked, but hell... it worked, lol.

okay...on the 7th, 8th, 10th, 20th, install, I dunno I lost count. I finally got it to get past this here's what i did see if this works.

Uninstalled ME2, Uninstalled Adobe Air.

1. Installed EA Download Manager (just to create the folder where EACore_App points)
2. Installed ME2 - couldn't install AIR (Win Installer issue for me) so skipped past it
3. Installed AIR
4. Created shorted cut from EAAccessInstaller.exe

This was my target path - much easier than doing the command prompt
B)
"D:\\\\My Documents\\\\My Downloads\\\\MassEffect2_DigitalDeluxeEdition_ddsetup\\\\software\\\\EAAccessInstaller.exe" /s/dir "D:\\\\Games\\\\ME2\\\\Binaries"

that's mine of course d:\\\\games\\\\me2\\\\binacires, you point it to your folder

4. Ran it and got past the error finally.

Oh lastly, if you get the configuration error, start EACoreserver.exe in your binaries folder manually and you might have to start eaproxyinstaller as well. I had to install my bonuses and i got the error and then when i started it, it worked fine. So try that.

I have the version from D2D

I had similar issues. How I resolved it was

1) Downloaded the EA Download Manager from the EA site

2) Login to the EA site

3) authenticate a game and used the code from direct2drive.

(Note I tried a copy and paste of the code and it failed to authenticate.

I then typed in the code out manually and it worked.)

Once the game was authenticated off the EA site the game launched without any issue.

I have tired almost everything suggested on this thread, I deeply appreciate everyone's efforts to get this game working yet whether the mistake is on my end or due to EA's insistence on overly complicated verification methods I don't know.

I have tried using the EA Downloader, but it insists my D2D code is unacceptable.

I have tried many re-installs

I have tried editing that annoying Binaries File

I have done everything in my limited computer knowledge I can think of to get this game to run. And honestly its just not worth it. I'm going to give up fixing someone else game and kick the problem over to D2D Support as I purchased this 60+ $$ game from them, they have the responsibility of getting it working or refunding me my money.
