Hi Guys this is what I did to correct the problem.

Once you finish downloading and installing the game, uninstalled it by going to

C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsMass Effect™ 2__InstallerDISK1BioWareUninstall Mass Effect 2.exe

Once this is done cut the complete Mass Effect folder and place it anywhere you like.

I copy it in C:

Then run the installer in the new location

C:Mass Effect™ 2__InstallerDISK1EASetup.exe

Just in case run it as a administrator.

After the setup is finished look for the new mass effect folder created in

C:Program Files (x86)Electronic Arts

or

C:Program Files (x86)EA Games

you will see two new folders

"Binaries" and "Docs"

Just open these folders and copy  and paste their content to the same folder in the mass effect foler.

C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsMass Effect™ 2Binaries
C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsMass Effect™ 2Docs

*Replacing all files whe asked.

Then you can run the game, if you want to can cut the mass effect folder a paste it anywhere you like.

:)

This one is work for me thx so much!

awc.dll load failure is also preventing me from playing the Mass Effect 2 game that was offered to me for free off the EA-downloader as well.

same thing happening to me, I've already downloaded the game twice. I'm not doing it again unless I know it will work.

Tried many of the ideas in this thread none of it seems to work for me.

I've been working on this for the past twelve hours. After two downloads from the EADM taking about 10 hours, I finally figured out what's going on.

For the free EADM manager one (at least for me) the EADM created two separate folders in the C:\\Program Files (x86). Electronic Arts, and EA Games. In the EA Games folder you should find the missing files from the binaries folder in the Electronic Arts\\Mass Effect™ 2\\Binaries folder.

So far this has seemed to work for me. Best of luck to you all!

Edit: After getting to the main menu, I exited out and tried to install the DLC that also came free. The DLC seems to think the game isn't installed. I don't know why. EA has some serious issues they need to fix.

Edit 2: On a side note, I seemed to have reinstalled it twice, once through the EASetup in the __Installer folder and once through EADM. I also got the DLC to work by using run "C:\\Users\\Jon\\Documents\\ME2 MODS\\ME2_NormandyCrash.exe" /dir "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mass Effect™ 2"

**** this, I got ME2 as a free bonus for purchasing DA2 but I don't even want to go to all the trouble of figuring out how to get it to work. The game obviously sucks else there wouldn't be this problem after more then a year.

I got this error once in Dragon Age: Origins and it was simply fixed by emptying a txt-file on game's folder. It doesnt seem to be the case with ME2 though. Now I got the same error after installing Arrival DLC. I guess it's just easier to download the whole game again from EA Downloader, although it will take couple of hours to finish. The game is DDE purchased from EA-Store sometime during it's release a year ago.

Damn these kind of DRM's altogether, Assasin's Creed 2 style works fine although saves are stored on a server somewhere out there but the game stil works without any problems! I hope ME3 will not have same kind of DRM as this and DA:O, but sure it'll have. Maybe I purchase it from Steam next time to get off all these problems.. Dunno if it is sold in Steam though, it should be! The dream option would be through Blizzard's Battle.net, but it isn't open to other developers yet like Steam is.

Now this is weird, emptying that file from DA:O's Fix also works for Mass Effect 2's AWC.dll Error. I downloaded the whole game again from EA Downloader and still got the error. Then I just decided to try this:

1) In Windows XP: In folder "X:\\Games\\Mass Effect 2\\Binaries" there is a file "EACore_App.ini" with some text within it. Just simply open this up in Notepad and erase all the text within the file. Then save it. Backup the file just in case.
2) Game should work now.

Atleast it worked for me, now to install all the DLC's and patches and hoping it won't break up again.

None of all methods above worked for me, and strangely I didn't found any awc.dll in my computer, even after installing Adobe Air (tried installing as administrator and awc.dll is nowhere to be found). Redownloading is not an option since I am limited in bandwidth. How is this possible?

Any solution?

What worked for me was that i reinstalled my EADM.
If that doesnt work then go to http://support.ea.com/ and make an account if you haven't got one.
1.Go to "Contact Us" and ¨then you have to pick a product which is ME2(Mass Effect 2)
2.Then choose platform which must be pc.
3.Choose the category called Technical support and the sub category shall be crashing/Freezing/Load failure .
4. You can choose mail or live chat i prefer live support because it's fast.
5. Do as they tell you.

This was stickied for a long time; now, AFAIK, it's included in Kloreep's catch-all FAQ:

I had this same problem, I reinstalled and it didn't fix it.

But then I updated to the Mass effect 1.02 patch and it worked just fine. Try that first, then try the ini fix if that doesnt work.

Had the same issue as other posters in this thread with digital version of ME2 (downloaded from D2D). Typed in correct path and manually ran eacoreserver.exe and finally got the game to load. Then I installed DLC and once again got the awc.dll error. Previous fixes no longer worked after I tried them again. Then I read somewhere that deleting all text from the .ini file in the binaries folder might work. So after making a backup, I tried it and the game now runs fine. Anyone else having problems might want to try this. Make sure that you create a backup first. Based on time and frustration spent on getting the game to work my feelings about ME2's DRM cannot be described on a family-friendly board. Somehow that it is a DRM issue as opposed to a bug or something else just really gets my goat. Usually enjoy in a sick way solving problems of getting a game to run but not when it is a DRM issue.

You don't need to use Origin.  You can launch ME2 directly.

This is so damn irritating. You mean to say they did not release a patch for this issue? Plus, reinstalling means re-downloading for us digital purchasers which is a 5 hour plus download and sucks away all your bandwidth. Seriously.. BioWare and EA. FIX YOUR GAME. You guys have had plenty of time to patch this.

You can't address anyone from either Bioware or EA in here.  Read the forum descriptions.

If you think that you have a complaint to make somewhere official, look at the link at the bottom center of every page on the forums.
